Last week I vowed to make working out a priority. My whole plan was Jillian Michaels videos, but if I've learned anything is that if that plan worked I'd be through by 17th video by now. So I decided each week to come up with attainable goals related to fitness. This weeks are:
1. 2 runs
2. Stair circuit
3. Tire workout which was then changed to swimming
4. BONUS: nature hike
I completed my 2 runs. I use an app called Zombies, Run! It's fun. It's an RPG for running essentially. I enjoy it and still get to listen to music. Right now I jog/run while songs are playing and walk through the game clips. I want to progress on to jog while clips play and run during songs, and eventually add in the zombie chases for sprinting.
My first run I ran through town and visited my boyfriend at work at the end before walking home. He has befriended the neighbor horse so I got some love in before heading back.
My second run I took a path in our park that I haven't done before. On my way out I gulped down from our neat water fountains/pumps. That water is really good!
Stair workout is something my boyfriend used to have to do for track. I don't know if I followed it correctly but it kicked my butt. I did 5x sprints up and down. Then 5x skip a step/lunge with one leg. Then 5x sprints followed by 5x lunge with opposite leg. Then finished with 5x sprints. It was really storming out and I tried to make excuses not to go but realized it was just water and I'd feel better if I did it. And I did.
I did it to that landing, which is what it was. Maybe one day I will work up to the full things. Right now I am timing myself to see if I can get faster (still safe though).
My third goal was a tire workout. I thought seeing as my boyfriend fixes farm vehicles for a living it would be cake to find and try. I was wrong and then I was called a hipster. So I made a date to take my friend's daughter swimming. Then the storm rolled in. Then I cut my hand at work and got stitches. So no swimming for me this week! It will be added to the goals next week since it's supposed to be sunny again.
On Sunday I got in not 1 but 2 hikes in 2 different mountains! We were busy and it was fun. The first we took a relatively short hike to find an old mine entrance in Lewis & Clark Nat'l Forest. It was really cool. We are going to go back and explore inside more. We weren't prepared to do that this time around. The second hike was at some friend's property where his uncle works. We had a lovely double date that ended in a home cooked meal.
Thats the mine and the mine entrance, doesn't look like much but it's pretty cool inside.
And then how can you beat that view?!
I realized taking photos makes you accountable but also makes me want to be creative. So I will keep up with my goals. Running and stairs will be a consistent but I plan on doing a lot more creative workouts to mix in! If anyone has ideas please leave them!
