It's not the best situation in the world for calories and such, but every day my coworkers and I eat lunch together. Someone goes out and gets takeout and then we all sit together and eat (there are only 5 of us and one's on maternity leave). I've been compensating by ordering salads, leaving off dressings, not drinking soda, taking the skin off chicken, etc. This gets kind of expensive, but we do take turns.

B and I were at Costco and decided we should get lunch from there, since it's cheap and delicious. I figured I was good since there are no fries or chips and I LOVE their hot dogs. I got a hot dog and every bite was delicious!!

After lunch, I came back to my computer to track what I had eaten and had some trouble finding Costco's Food Court nutritional info. I finally found it and was shocked! My scrumptious hot dog had 570 calories, 33g of fat and 1730mg of sodium! And I was still hungry after the one so I split a second one with B! Ughhh....

Needless to say, I won't be snarfing down their hot dogs like I used to. I'll either grab a fruit smoothie or just wait until I get home to eat the giant bags of freggies that usually fill the cart!

Just in case anyone on Spark ever needs Costco's Food Court nutrition stuff, I found this really useful PDF of it that you can see here:

I've done that before - eaten then tracked calories. And it's bitten me a few times. I probably wouldn't have guessed more than say 400 for that. . .bur you live, you learn.

We have Sam's Club where I live - I think they're kinda the same. They serve big ole Nathan's hotdogs and they are delicious.

It is rather amazing isn't it? I love that fast food establishments have to advertise the amount of calories in their foods it keeps me on the straight and narrow.

I used to love hot dogs, especially Oscar Mayer. However, in the past twenty or so years I had stopped eating hot dogs except for special times, once or twice a year. I've never had a Costco hot dog since our store opened here a few years ago. I love their smoothie and frozen yogurt!
