Lost Power - Trying to Recover As Best As I Can

Friday, June 14, 2013

Just another quick blog since I now have power. We had a very vicious storm come through yesterday afternoon and it knocked out power and we just now got it back on about an hour ago.

I'm not sure if things are okay in our freezer or fridge or not (I'm upstairs and have been advised to not go up and down stairs much) and my husband has been super busy taking care of things, but thankfully we didn't have a tree fall on our house although a large tree top fell near it.

It was very difficult for me to sleep last night since I couldn't use my heating pad (been having back spasms) and it was super hot in the house with no fan or air conditioning, but it's on now thankfully.

I'm trying hard to get better and I am walking from time to time around the house although I am very sore and in pain. I am trying to get off the Percocet the dr. gave me since it makes me feel "crazy" and sleepy and sticking with lots of Motrin. I was told that abdominal pain was hard to completely get rid of with medication and I believe it as it has been a journey.

They gave me a morphine pump which didn't completely cover the pain so they gave me an additional pain reliever in my i.v. in the hospital that made me very nauseous to the point I couldn't even drink water. They finally got me off that when they took my catheter out since I had to be able to get up and go to the restroom so the pain wasn't as controlled but at least I didn't have as much nausea.

Nell - I didn't really have that problem thankfully. I eat so much fiber and drank so much water (after finally getting over the nausea) that I was lucky.

I really hate being "spacy" and that is the way they made me feel. I'm still dealing with pain and it's uncomfortable for sure, but I'm trying to hold off using the Percocet until night time if I can stand it until then.

Livergiver - So glad that you are okay and that the tree didn't fall on your house either. My husband and son are working on it this morning.

You didn't mention the thing I truly hate about opiates: constipation! Misery added to misery. I hope you manage to feel good enough to get off the strong meds.

Sure hope you feel better soon! Storm came through here, too. We lost a large oak tree, and are grateful it fell away from the house! DH is out cleaning it up now.
