50 pushups and feeling good

Friday, June 14, 2013

Yesterday's challenge was to do 50 pushups. Not all at once I might add, but throughout the day.

There was no way I was going to be face down for any sort of pushup, so wrote that challenge off - until today.

emoticon I found you can do wall pushups, so I have done twenty in two sets of ten. See www.sparkpeople.com/reso
urce/exercises.asp?exercis
e=108

They don't engage the core or legs, but do use the muscles in your chest, triceps, and shoulders the same as conventional pushups. emoticon

I have read that planks help you do pushups, so I look forward to getting rid of this sinusitis so I can do both planks and pushups.

The title of this blog is somewhat ambiguous. Yes I will feel good if I can do 50 pushups in a day, but feeling good is more to do with countering negative thoughts.

I am having a hard time staying motivated at the moment. The bout of flu followed by sinusitis has really got me down. I know it is self-limiting and I will get well. I shouldn't be so hard on myself, but I've had to face that I have broken my streak as I haven't exercised for the last eight days.

SparkCoach suggested reading an inspirational story or watching an inspirational video, and to hold onto the message if you find you notice negative thinking.

When I just want to curl up in the corner, it is difficult and takes a long time for me to participate and engage even just a little bit. But, I do find inspiration and motivation from reading SP blogs and posts by team members.

Yesterday, I found out about the SP Community Team, see www.sparkpeople.com/comm
unity/community_team.asp
I already use or participate on SparkPeople.com in many of the ways that are expected of this team, and I like assisting people to find their way around the site. Also, I am enthusiastic about the SparkPeople philosophy and all encompassing community. emoticon

emoticon The ways in which I do not currently participate are going to stretch me, which is a good thing. emoticon Hopefully, by meeting the goals of the SP Community Team will assist me to be at my best and inspire and help others.

    Each time I was in my bathroom, I used to do Wall Push-Ups (can't do the 'regular' one anyway) . Your blog made me remind that I should resume that, and aim for 50 like you.

Hope you feel better soon! Motivation is not gone very far since you are still Sparking. emoticon
