16 down.....

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Today makes for 16 days that I have not had a drink of alcohol. I made the decision to not drink until we start our vacation on the 23rd. Then I will shoot for moderation for the next 2 weeks, then start belles 100 day challenge. It got me thinking about our vacation.
What would it be like if I did not drink? What about starting over again to number day 1.
I already know that I will not be following my diet like I have been. But do I really want to throw my diet out the window. It is so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it. What would a vacation be like without over indulging.
Could I possibly have a vacation and just be moderate in all things?

I think if you can do it with alcohol; you definitely can do it with food! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think a vacation without overindulging can be totally rewarding! Try to focus on enjoying your surroundings and doing activities that you wouldn't normally do at home. I know that being from Louisiana food & drink are front and center in the definition of having a good time, especially on vacation, but it doesn't have to be that way. You can indulge in other luxuries like spa treatments, tours, or some type of unique excursion. Whatever you choose, I know you'll have a great time!

You are on day 16 and can jump into the 100 day challenge on day 16 if you want to start now!

Enjoy your vacation, but remember all the work to get you this far...but vacations are to get away,,, decisions, decisions

Have fun...whatever you decide!

    You're doing great!

On the subject of "cheat meals" and going off plan - I posted a comment on SKINNYINMYHEAD's blog here that she really liked:

It started an interesting conversation...

You can do anything you put your mind to. A vacation doesn't have to be any less fun because you are eating healthy and maybe even not drinking. I was reading a blog about how you could look at this as your first of many sober vacations! Imagine not waking up feeling 'yuck' after drinking the night before. Imagine the energy you'll have from eating healthy and how much more you may do because you are NOT drinking. So much to do and see ...

You can absolutely have a wonderful vacation and still be moderate in what you eat and drink. Get in lots of walking, eat lots of veggies when you go out to eat. Drink lots of water during the day. But most importantly, enjoy yourself. Once you get to your goal, everything in moderation, is going to help you keep that weight off for good.
