saying no to dessert

Thursday, June 13, 2013

It is so very hard to go out for lunch with my friends, because they all try to persuade me to eat dessert, and actually I go with my menu in mind, and stick to it for the most part, I usaully just say, well I am not very hungry and I do not want to take my left over home to my DH, he does not need the extra calories either.

Great job! I use to belong to a Red Hat group, but all they ever did was go places to eat. I got real tired of Tea Houses. I wanted to do some fun things like bowling, mini golf, easy nature hikes. The group eventually broke up because everyone was tired of doing the same thing and we all wanted to watch our diets. xo Teri

Sounds to me as if your "friends" have an issue not you. You should enjoy yourself and be proud knowing that you are doing what's right for YOUR health. Tell them the truth. You don't eat desert and you'd appreciate if they wouldn't insist that you do. Kudos for sticking to your guns!

I wouldn't say it's a "downer" at all! If everyone wants dessert, and you feel left out, try ordering a cup of coffee (if you like coffee that is). Otherwise, just say you're too full, but go ahead and enjoy themselves. I've been to lunches and dinners before, and not everyone orders a dessert. Don't feel pressured. Great job on saying no Mary!

since they want dessert, isn't there some way you can manage your menu with dessert as part of it? seems like a downer at the end of the social event.
