A review and an opportunity

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Had my work review today. Not bad, nothing I didn't already know. I need to speak up more and keep the clutter down. They love how I am with the kids, I'm generally a positive personality who gets along with everyone.

Shortly after my review I was asked if I would be willing to take on the added responsibility of having an intern. Funny thing is my director who asked me to have the intern didn't know the assistant director wanted me to work on my communication. When she found out she thought it was great how this opportunity came to me the same day s the evaluation.

So for now I will stay where I am. The student's internship will be finished by August 18th so I will stay and gain supervisory experience.

We went for a visit to the chipmunks and they are still not as active as they were last year or even last Saturday. The one we could always count on hasn't been seen since Monday or Tuesday when I went over before my husband got home from work. I hope he's ok.

The strangest thing was the cottonwood seeds being so thick it looked like it was snowing. Looked cool, but not good for my allergies.

Feeling happy today. I hope it lasts.

Good for you for being asked to supervise an intern. You will Have to communicate if you want it to work. Have fun and good luck.

One benefit of being given supervisory responsibilities over someone else is that it makes up reflect upon why we do what we do so we can explain it. I hope working with the intern will help you nurture your communication abilities.

Perhaps with the weather that's been passing through the region lately some of the animals, particularly the small animals, have chosen to hide more. Even so, nature tends to have its own plan that doesn't always coincide with what we prefer. Hopefully you'll see the chipmunk again soon. The cottonwood seeds are everywhere in my part of MN too. I laid out in the sun for a few minutes (since we haven't seen much of the sun in weeks and my vitamin D levels aren't responding to supplementation) and the seeds kept tickling me and sticking to my sweat. At least they are only around for a short time!
