I was up for hours last night coughing my head off. My pills are getting caught in my throat. This is the biggest reason why I'm having problems swallowing. All the coughing woke up hubby. He got so upset I wound up getting up and trying to sleep on the couch.

I would do anything to have the doctors figure out what is actually wrong with me without it costing us hundreds of thousands of dollars that we don't have. The endoscope is next Thursday. I'm not holding my breath that they'll find anything.

I have trouble swallowing pills due to my thyroid problems. Try this. Drink 4 ozs of hot liquid first to relax your throat muscles, then take a teaspoon of olive oil and take the pill, washed down with more warm water. Also, sometimes just put the pill in your mouth, fill your mouth with milk, and throw your head back and it just slides right down.

I will be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. Let's have faith that the doctors will figure out what is causing your problems. I understand about the pill swallowing/sticking thing...that runs in my family and it is scary, not to mention uncomfortable. Drink lots and lots of water...warm, if possible. emoticon

Good luck with your test, I hope they find something they can do something about. I have a hard time swallowing pills and have found that if I take a bite of a banana and chew it and add the pill at the last minute before I swallow it goes down easier. Then I drink the glass of water recomended. I hope this helps, at least with the pill part.

The endoscopy should get to the heart of the matter, don't give it faith...

There seem to be a lot of people with this issue.. me being one.

I do find lots of water helps.. cutting down on sodium too. Worth a try. Now I rarely even have to take an antacid.

Sorry you are going through this.. hope you see the light at the end of the tunnel soon!

They say that GERD causes coughing and difficulty swallowing! I have GERD and I have both of these symptoms! Hope that the endoscope will find something so that they can help you! emoticon
