Had a check-up today, a follow up to my annual with the GYN, actually. She wanted me to see a GP because of a family history of heart disease. (Mom died of it at 66 and Grandma at 52.)
My last visit with the GP had been a nightmare - I went in February for allergy meds -I stepped on the scale at my highest weight ever - 219.2 pounds. They were kind enough not to mention my weight on that visit, but I was mortified - and so started a low carb and daily walking routine that very afternoon.
Today was completely different. I stepped on the scale at 180 even. My blood pressure, thyroid, cholesterol, and glucose are all within the normal range. Maybe I can to avoid the fate of the women in my family before me.
She was thrilled to hear about SparkPeople. She's always looking for something to recommend to patients that actually works - there's so many things out there but so few with a track record of success. This may sound sappy, but I hope she shares it with others and that they find the healthy living support that I have found here!
