Crash and Burn... trying again

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Well, as anyone who has tried a really restrictive diet (for weight loss or medical reasons) knows how crazy hard they can be... and I made it a week before completely crashing the wagon down a hill! emoticon

Yesterday was bad... tortilla chips, bread, ice cream, waffles... yeah, it was bad. emoticon

Fast forward to today. Today I decided that I didn't have any allergic reactions (at least not immediately), so I am going to assume that bread, corn, milk, and sugar are not allergens to me.

I am going to minimize the "new" foods I continue to eat. Milk I've put on the Ok list. Corn and wheat are on the ok, but don't go crazy with list. Sugar is on the "try to avoid" list... just because I know me. That leaves soy, nuts, and a few types of meat that I haven't reintroduced. My plan is to maintain the limited food group "diet" for another couple of weeks - but keep track of what I do eat and any reactions (no matter how small they seem). I'll add in nuts and try some soy (which I typically don't add intentionally just on principle)... in the next couple of weeks and see where I am by the time the Allergist comes to town. If nothing else, I can tell him that I eliminated these things for a week, then reintroduced with no issues.

On to life... it has been BEAUTIFUL here! We usually only get a few really good summer days in this rainforest I live in, but we have had almost a week straight of high 60's on up to low 80's! This is amazing for us. The forecast says it's supposed to continue too! So, we've been working outside and playing outside and even eating outside... and the house is a disaster (lol). One day it will rain and I'll clean the house... until then, I'll be enjoying my fruit on the deck! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the support! Today is going well actually... not as restrictive as last week, and still want sugar, but that's my life! lol

Changelife - Yes, it is light most of the time. I'm in SE AK, so it's not quite all day. But it is light at 11pm and light at 3am... not sure exactly when it gets dark (I woke up at both those times last night which is why I know). It's always weird to go to bed when it feels like it's 5pm (I grew up in WA state).

I wouldn't do good on a super restrictive diet too. my sister wanted me to avoid wheat and go gluten free. Didn't work!! Sounds like you got it figured out!

RIght now is it daylight all the time in Alaska?? How do you like that??

I know what you mean. I've been put on a low fat/low carb diet for the next two months. And the past two day's I have crashed, crashed, burned and were up in smoke! But I am determined that I will not give up. So as another day begins, I'll start over. Medically restricted diets are a bummer.
