The house my dad grew up in

Thursday, June 13, 2013

This is the mantle of the house my dad grew up in in a little town called Rovito, Cosensa, Italy.
if you look carefully it has the year it was built.
I can hardly believe it has been there for so long.
He was born here but went back at five to visit family and ended up staying until he graduated high school at 16. Then Musolini wanted to draft him into the Italian Army so he took his birth certificate and came back to America. He got a couple years of labratory college and learned to speak Engiish. He ended up serving in the American Army from 1944 to 1946.
He was a medic. He said he was scared because he did not carry a gun but he was grateful he did not have to carry a gun durring the time he served in Italy.

Oh and it really does say 1591!
