No one needs to be eating at McDonald's. That said, there's a TON of BS in that article. Dwarf wheat is NOT some new frankenwheat, for example; it's a very old heirloom cultivar that had been set aside just because it's not as pretty in the field. But it stands up better to hail and drought, so it has regained popularity in the last few decades of harsh weather. And the likelihood of American cheese having rBHG is practically nil. Farmers make almost nothing on milk, and the hormone shots are expensive. It makes no economic sense to spend $30 on a shot to make less than $1 worth of extra milk.

There are an awful lot of people out there trying to make us scared of our food when we don't need to be. Common sense should tell us that Egg McMuffin isn't a healthy breakfast; we don't need to give suppport to the authors who try to manipulate and scare us because they don't trust us to use common sense.

Wow! Who knew? I've been reading the Calton book. It is very interesting.

Talk about a tease! You had to mention a hiking blog. Now I feel like a kid waiting for a trip to Disneyland!
