So I went back to Weight Watchers this week.
OMG. I should have known better. I DID know better. But I just thought that having to go somewhere to weigh in would help. Maybe it still will...I paid for the month in advance so I'm definitely going to go back at least 3 more times.
The Leader specifically told me not to lift heavy weights. WHEN will this myth die?! She said, and I quote: "Lifting heavy will bulk you up, and we're trying to lose weight. Lift light weights, many reps."
I said, "That's not true. The only way I would bulk up is if I took steroids."
This myth has got to GO.
She also was lecturing about sandwiches and was having me and the one other new person describe what sandwiches we eat. I said, I rarely eat sandwiches.
I mean, we rarely have bread in our house.
She says to me in amazement, "but you need whole grains!"
I said, "I eat whole grains. I eat brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat cous cous, bulgur wheat..."
I don't consider "light" bread as a good food. I'd rather have no bread at all than light bread.
I also don't eat things like Skinny Cows, another product they love in WW. If I'm going to eat ice cream, it's going to be one scoop of the good stuff, at the ice cream parlor or a restaurant. Not at the house.
I did WW for many years and was successful at it. But they do aggravate me severely with al the junk food, junk food recipes and silly, misinformed exercise advice.
I remember one Leader who said that she got exercise points FOR RIDING A MOTORCYCLE. Lady, that is not exercise.
