Truth stranger than fiction

I have said this before, but they could make a movie out of my life! No not a nice documentary, but a comedy!

Yesterday was one of those days!
So 2 days ago I was offered my old part time job back. It is familiar and easy so I thought I would accept! Then we started figuring out child care for the 1 1/2 hour overlap when I would be at work before DH got home! quickly became apparent that it was going to be quite a headache!

Not worth the stress....So I called back the next morning and said that I was not going to do it!

BUT the good thing is that it was the catalyst for me to apply for ANOTHER Job with DOUBLE the pay ....and it is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do. So yesterday we were frantically updating my resume and the technical problems! I can't even begin to explain!

I rebooted my computer thinking it would solve the problems which only resulted in me losing the documents ALTOGETHER! So had to start again!

In the meantime I had a gala even to attend in the evening which mean that my husband would have to drop me off to get a ride to the awards ceremony and that meant I needed to have dinner cooked and done so that he could just eat it when he got back!

I was so proud of myself for being organized! I put the pork side ribs in the slow cooker on a bed on onions with some marinade and switched it on high...and walked go deal with the computer problems and trying to format the resume!

Between dealing with the after school chaos, and the spats and the "mommy I 'm hungry " or "mom can I watch TV?" and the "he said, she said" stuff....I only realized that I had not plugged the slow cooker in until 3 pm! Ugh!

Fortunately the meat was still cold to the touch so it was ok to cook and not throw away!

I cooked it in the slow cooker for about 90 min and then transferred it to the oven for the remainder of the time while I wrestled with the kids, computer and my hair straightener trying to get ready to go out! I had no idea what I was going to wear! It was a black tie event!

The first pair of pants I put on did not fit right, so I tried another!
Eventually I got an outfit together and tried to put rice on to cook with the ribs while trying to put on photo finish make up!

The slow cooker thing WOULD be funny IF it were not for the fact that I have done it before!!! This was not the first time! I am just glad I found it in time!

It is just what happens when you have just got too much to think about!

I was sending out review copies of our manuscript which I co-authored and tweeting with celebs begging them to read the book and endorse it!

I got one response from a guy I know from twitter! Whoo hooo!

And another from an author who currently lives in Russia...great guy!

Anyway...The gala event was lovely and the awards ceremony was great! But rather intimidating! Wow! To be among so many accomplished writers was quite a thing!

I was there supporting one of my writer's group friends who got a second place for her short story. I was also there to promote our manuscript that we are looking to publish. and to meet and greet some of those who will be reviewing it!

One of those reviewing the book won the BEST BOOK award!!! So that will be great to have her name on the book!

When I got back from the gala, a glamorous event, it just got more dazzling! I came inside, changed out of my heels and headed out to go do the garbage. ( my side job)

How is that for coming back down to earth with a bump! lol
Hobnobbing one moment and garbage dragging to the curb the next!

Oh well, it all worked out in the end, because this morning after totally shutting down the computer and starting all over again, everything seems to be working and I sent off my application and resume! SO....please pray with me if you are the praying kind!

I really want this job! But I also only want it if it is right for me......

Today is going to be just as hectic!
The house looks like a tornado came though here! What do they do when I am not here?
And tonight is music practice, but not before I meet with some local newspaper editors.

Never ending .... and never a dull moment.

Now comes the fun part, the waiting!

I suppose I should put the sound on on my phone for when they call! Heehe!

Have a great day!

Oh and I ate too many pickles at the pickles! Salt bloat today!

Here is a pic form The Awards event!

I'm still spinning from just reading about it. LOL But I know that life all too well. I've knews for doesn't get better. When the kids are grown, it still keeps happening, just differently....and its something you know deep down inside and actually its what you thrive on. When life calms down, you sit and tap your thumbs and when the distress call comes, you're on your feet with a smile on your face.
Have a blast, you have a weekend to pretend you're resting. emoticon

Wow, you are one very busy lady, Mel!!!! I'm glad you were able to get it all done, despite the hiccups. What would life be without some drama and excitement! LOL
(As a writer, you know all about that! emoticon )

PS... aren't computers just crazy sometimes!?!?! I'm glad it's not just me who has 'those days' when yor computer freaks out and just chooses NOT to work properly! I wish I knew why that happens when we are always under a time crunch???

    Have a lovely Thursday!!!! emoticon
