Thursday Scale Thoughts

Thursday, June 13, 2013

So after yesterday's frustrations of stepping on the scale more than a few times and never getting the same number twice, I decided to pull up the reviews for my scale. Apparently, I am not alone in my frustrations. There are more negative reviews than positive reviews for this scale. I've had it for about 5 years so I'm not all that worried about ditching it for a new one. Just need to pick a new one out and save for it if necessary. I rarely use the body fat/body water function since that would change 30 seconds later too so I didn't find it reliable on this model. Maybe it would be on another one? I wish we could indulge in the Aria but that that is out of the price range for now. I saw several less than $50 that had good reviews on Amazon so will probably pick one of those. I'm okay with having to step on it twice for it to calibrate but when you have to get on it 6 times in two minutes to even try to see the same number twice, it's very frustrating. I'm not talking about variations from day to day... within 5 minutes. That's a problem.

ANYHOW! I'm over it and will find a new one. emoticon

Goals for today:

emoticon At least 96oz of water-80 oz + 32oz of tea

emoticon Freggie with each meal and snack- emoticon

emoticon Earn 20 points in A Book Club challenge- emoticon

emoticon Earn at least 45 points on workshop task list-Not going to make this one as I only have 1 point at almost 7pm. Whoops-- 16 points for the day

emoticon Complete 1 report emoticon

    Good luck with your scale shopping! I have a very basic "cheap" WW one, that seems to work fine~not that I like the numbers it gives me! Great goals for the day! You can do it!

    * Sorry to hear.

    * absolutely

    On my official weigh-in. I do 2 out of 3 for both measurements. There's rarely more than a 0.2 pound fluctuation. Happens from time to time but not the norm.

    I've never really trusted the bodyfat readings for several reasons.

    Good luck with your search for a new scale!! My hubby treated me to the Aria scale awhile back.... it's great BUT.... never weighs the amount of body fat I carry accurately... after doing some reading I learned that is because it only goes up one leg and down the other... so it is only a guess-t-mate......

    You can take your scale to the doctor's office to see how it measures up. That way you'll know if it's a little low or a little high. My mother's scale was off by 15 pounds! It's OK if you know and can subtract, but she has dementia and all she knows is the number.
