Preempted

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

A weather advisory for west of here is preempting everything on all the locel channels. It gets tiresome hearing the same thing over and over. I am praying for the people in the affected area. As it is VERY slow-moving and everything is being reported 'as a chance'. I'm glad I'm not the weatherman. For over 45 min, he has been saying 'might', potential, ''watch', 'possible' etc. Why it is not reduced to a corner of the screen or a thread running across the top or bottom of the screen with intermittant interruptions, I don't know. That is what I am more used to in the past.

A tornado watch is when a twister or a tornado has actually been spotted.

Although it's not the way you want to see the news broadcasted like it used to be, everything has changed since digital came, and I believe that's one of the reasons why they are forecasting the weather all the time.

Even where I live, unless you are in the same room as the tv, you really don't hear an alarm other than just the one loud beep and that's it.

Or you must have the weather channel on to really see where all the action is because even then, unless it's very widespread like it was yesterday, the weather is generally not even news on the regular channels. And you wonder why Oklahoma had it so bad.

Great point, we were predicted to be in the heat of it, my daughter said she thinks we even had a mini tornado around 3 in the morning, but nothing worth talking about...unless it's a HOLY GHOST tornado and revival's about to break out, lol. In that case, best be in the shadow of the almighty! WOO HOO! I have friends who live in Elkhart, IN and were suppose to be in the thick of it too, but we stood together and commanded the storm to be still. No injuries, no tornado. Bless the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within bless his holy name!

I find that very irritating as well. That's what the weather channel is for! But they're just doing their jobs....

Wouldn't want their job but it can be frustrating.

Stay safe.

I think they want to make sure if anyone can be forewarned in time to get to safety they've done their job but sometimes you are desensitized to the info and tune it out. emoticon

It seems like it would make sense for there to be a brief announcement every 15 minutes briefly talking about the danger and how it is progressing. Then they could do important updates when it has done something more. I suppose all the news people are freaking out and think he has to be on there continuously. Possibly they are worried some people may tune in late and need important info on what to do.

Of course, what I do, since I am fortunate enough to not live in tornado alley, is to pray for the safety of the people and animals.
