Turtle Hunt!

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

So when I fed the fish last night, I was keeping an eye out for the turtles. Just to be sure Crush was still around and not out and about. They have learned that when the fish get excited food is coming. Then they will pop up and eat. But only one turtle popped up. Hubby and I waited a bit but then we went looking. What we found wasn't our missing Crush, but about a dozen or so spots where she had been. Little depressions in the bark ships or pine needles. But no Crush emoticon . We looked all over the yard and even in the front yard. Although how would have gotten out there is anyone's guess. She can't make it under the gate (at least I don't think she can, we added some plastic mesh that goes all the way to the ground), and she wasn't in the gravel pile in the very back of the yard. We looked for almost 30 mins and no sign of her! The only thing I can think of, is that she was so tried from her roaming during the day/night, that she was on the bottom of the pond, resting. We can't see the bottom of the pond at the deep end. We'll look again tonight. I hope we find her! emoticon

Hubby got us KFC for dinner last night. He brought home two buckets of chicken (one grilled and one original), some mac and cheese, potato wedges, mashed taters w/gravy, sweet corn, and biscuits. I was STARVING by the time I got home. So I had a thigh, drumstick, and wing, all grilled. Some mac and cheese, some wedges, some corn, and a biscuits. But...I was very sparing in the portion sizes. So once I logged it I was about 100 calories over for the day. I'm not going to worry about it, as I'm doing good on the work outs and just plain walking. I'm averaging about 10K steps a day (during the week, less on weekends). I was more worried about the sodium intake, but that didn't seem to hit me, at least not this morning. My weight is back to what it was a week ago. emoticon

I made it into work at 6 AM again. Another 10 hr day for me, but it's by choice. I need the extra money that OT gives me. But I do need to get more sleep. I didn't go to bed until 11:30 last night. Tuesday is my guilty pleasure TV show..Dancemoms! I know..it's such a "train wreck" but I figure it's a notch above Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Maybe not much...but some! emoticon

Dinner tonight will be left over chicken and fixings. I think working the longer hours makes me more hungry. I had one chocolate chip cookie today, so I'll count that as dessert for today. And I did 56 mins on the elliptical today in the gym at work. emoticon So I should be OK. If it's too bad after dinner, I'll jump on the treadmill or the Xbox. emoticon

OK...I think that just about covers my day so far, how's yours going?

emoticon Turtles do like to hide, I hope she shows up soon. They are much more agile and quick than you expect them to be. And they can climb!!

Oh dear about the turtle! I sure hope you find her. Do they have strange habits and urges when they're nesting like humans? Ooooo! I hope you find her. Hugs, Calen~
