Finally walked

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

Last summer I drowned my beloved ipod in the laundry. As a result, I have not been able to get myself to just go for a walk--I get very, very bored without it.

I got a new ipod a little over a month ago, and have been trying to get myself out, with no success. This morning I finally got up and went for a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. I don't enjoy walking by myself much, and I have lived here so long that the neighborhood is beyond boring, but I did it. Now the challenge is to do it a second time!!

Hi thanks for the comment on my blog post about diets. I haven't ever been on one and I have a good food plan I am following so no worries there. I do avoid some foods just because they don't agree with me. I try to stay on the lower end of carbs as well just because I feel better with more fruits, vegetables, and protein. I was just looking into various diets some may follow and I wondered what was the allure of some of the diet plans.

How about going to some other neighbor hood to walk?
Or a shopping mall or high school track?
Taking the first steps are the hardest. Hope
    you are doing well.

emoticon Here's a challenge for you--look for one new thing on each walk-someone's new flower garden, a bird you hadn't seen before, a new car, a cloud shape, anything to make it challenging.

Good for you. Maybe you could start exploring other areas or local parks. Keep up the great work!

I have to say I dread my walk alone sometimes, but then I added in some trash pickup and that I rather enjoy. Also once I get out there, I don't dread it so much. Sometimes I see interesting things like rabbits, birds, a turtle yesterday. And every now and again someone will actually go with me. Or sometimes I do a camera walk and take pictures of the blooming trees or flowers, etc. I think keeping it different is what matters. Yes, I have decided sometimes I need to drive somewhere to walk to keep it interesting, but still feel a bit bad wasting gas if I do that. So don't do it much yet. But this summer, I will have my son with me some, as I don't always give him a choice.

Great job on the walk! And don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing with my first iPhone a few years ago. I went out walking in a blizzard (literally) and I had my iPhone in my outer layer of clothing. When I got back, I threw all of my outer layer of clothing (which was soaking wet from the snow) in the washer. I didn't figure out what happened until my wife asked what was banging around in the dryer, lol.

My walking routes are pretty time-worn also; combat some of the boredom by wearing pedometer and posting steps each day. Keeps me going even when I don't feel like it.
