Matthew 20 :1-16 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. “He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’ “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
“The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’
“But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’ “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
Um, um, um…um…um. When I was in kindergarten , first grade (ask my elementary school friends) I had a REAL problem with wanting to be first. As a matter of fact, one girl in particular and I (apparently she wanted to be first too o.O ) would often bite and hit each other to fight for the coveted spot. Jesus’s disciples had a real problem with this too. They’d often get to staring at one another wondering what Jesus was up to in the other one’s life. Peter makes his point very well known on more than one occasion until finally Jesus is like look buddy, don’t worry about John. I got John, I got you. Keep your eyes on me! Capiche? Peter did finally learn, but I think it was a very, hard lesson for him.
My point is I seriously believe God is up to something very cool and very radical and well, we aren’t going to miss it, not a one of us so, I say let’s just get busy having some fun! Why should we worry about a “new” convert getting everything you have worked out in the hot, sun for all these twenty, thirty, forty years. God is going to do what God WANTS to do, and TRUST ME he doesn’t need our “opinions” about it. It is HIS GOOD PLEASURE TO GIVE EVERYONE THE KINGDOM so STOP HOARDING ALL THE NUGGETS…Capiche?
Instead why don’t you get busy asking the Lord yourself what he wants you to do, beloved Church, and then you won’t look so much like a deer in headlights, while the WORLD is getting in miles and miles ahead of you. I know, I know that stings. I tell ya, I am soooo glad I am married because TRUST ME, I know what I say makes some people VERY uncomfortable, but lucky for you I’ve already been chewed up and spit out by corporate carnivores, so, hell, what do I have to lose?! Now my husband on the other hand, he is quite balanced and quite “versed” or should I say “steeped” because my boy loves tea in religion. In fact, he knows a BUTT LOAD about a great deal of them. I don’t presume theres’ a religion out there today that he has not at least in some way, matter or fashion familiarized himself with. TALK ABOUT A DIGGER!
Me, no, me on the other hand, I fit in better with the world. I just like her better. She is very appealing to me BECAUSE SHE IS VERY APPEALING TO CHRIST. Matter of fact, HE DIED FOR HER. So yeah, my message is a little pointy if you are on the wrong side of the sword, but for those of us who need a little mercy, grace, help, healing and wholeness, what I say SPEAKS VOLUMES into that said person’s life so yeah. I am just getting busy getting in where I fit in. Matter of fact, sooner or later WE ALL WILL because God clearly says he is separating sheeps from goats, so I ask you? Just whose side are you on anyway? Yeno what don’t answer that. Think about it. Keep thinking about it, and when you KNOW the answer to that, then tell me.
In the meantime,
Threw in some BBQ sauce for free. GOOD LORD IF YOU ARE PRAYING FOR ME TO KEEP TEACHING, LOL, KEEP EM’ COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
