The lone ground bee...

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

The other day, it was high time I sprayed some weeds all over our property as DH will not use weedeater and this is so much simpler.

So I got a lot of walking in, and marveled at all the things one has to spray around from trees, septic tank, propane tank, camper, junk pile one, junk pile two, garage, lean to on garage, barn...

I was bothered in one area by what I thought at first was a bumble bee, then realized it was a ground bee.

Today it was under my house lean to, tiny patio area, staying in one spot a very long time. I dismissed it with a swat of an old catalog, and noticed a hole in the wood!

I didn't know ground bees could chew in wood like that. It is newer unpainted wood and maybe it liked it? Odd I thought.

Must avoid the nest where ever it is!

I sat outside for ten minutes. Came in to three bugs crawling on me and I was
not sitting in grassy area. Now I feel like I need another shower.

Tell me again the joys of country life?

Those bees are everywhere here. We've had about 5 show up in the house...we just fight as much as we can...and the bugs love country living! Keep Sparkin'!!

We had borer bees on our porch and my husband put oil (WD40, I think) in the holes they made and they didn't come back.

Ground bees, fortunately, are not avid, aggressive stingers... if want help locating their nest-- look here:

(don't know if the "link" tag works in comments. If it doesn't, just copy and paste the addy without the linky stuff..._)

Glad you are doing okay, despite the bugginess...
