Confusion issue...resolved!

As you know I was pretty confused as to why the figures on the scale should be so "strange." It would appear that my diet is superb, my exercise program is fantastic.....so what's going on?
I hate being confused.

I spoke to my trainer, but as knowledgeable as he is..he drew a blank. I then went to a sports dietitian and explained the situation to her, again she drew a blank. I mean come on....I'm not THAT unique and I can't be "alone" on this planet with this problem surely?

I went home REALLY perplexed and tried to think myself what it could be. Finally I got smart and turned to google and started asking questions in a hundred different ways till I got some help. And BINGO.

So here is the explanation and please don't expect the technical one google served up. Here is the revised version (I had to turn to the dictionary for some of the sporting/technical terms they used)

The body MUST have carbs for energy....if you do boot camp.
My diet is carb free.
How the body works is, when you train hard, it goes looking for carbs, when it finds none, it turns to the next best thing which is protein. However, muscle uses the protein to grow. So, when the muscles don't find protein (it having been used up for energy) it uses the water. When the water is devoid (despite my 8-10 glasses of liquid per day) it stores ALL forms of fat, be it from avo, olive oil, nuts etc.
Additionally, you need MORE healthy food, not less. Yes, sparks said it first.
A few months back (basically when I started boot camp) sparks automatically re-evaluated my calories and upped them. Since they gave no explanation for this, I just ignored the extra calories and kept eating the way I was....which is....protein with loads of veggies, protein with fruit.
Now, when you eat clean, you get TONS of food. So I felt like an eating machine and I was losing weight. What I didn't know was that 1000-1200 is WAY TOO LOW calories if you boot camp and I was doing just that daily.

How absolutely amazingly made is the body? Evolution? I think not!
Give credit where credit is due. This amazing machine was created.

So I have upped my calorie intake and feeling so full I could pop. LOL Guess I'll get used to the new food intake again and used to eating healthy complex carbs.

So why didn't the weight loss lady know and why didn't the trainer know and why didn't the sports dietitian know this??? LOL because while I told all of them what I was eating eg
nuts, avo, fruit and veg, chicken etc and it all sounds good....but I failed to tell any one of them HOW MUCH I was eating. Rico says he was thinking in terms of "she must be eating enough because she's boot camping" and I never once said "I eat less than 1200 calories a day."

Ah well, at least I have my answer now and can correct the matter and should see the figures change. I hope this doesn't affect my weight loss which has been steadily going down. It shouldn't....but I guess I'm a bit nervous of that. So relief is mine. I so hate unanswered questions.

So I'm back to my happy bouncing self again.

Today I've been running around with my friends friend from the UK. We had lunch together and my hubby came too. Once my hubby left, her friend, Richard, apologized for ignoring us ladies and commandeering Justins time, but he finds the I.T. world so fascinating. Since he had already invited me to supper along with Carol, he said "now tonight I will chat to you about...the weather." Oh my goodness...what a laugh. He doesn't know me at all. Does he think I'm a dumb blond? SO, I've googled some crazy places around the worlds weather and going to share "that" information with him tonight. LOL

He's taking us to a pizza place, so I'm hoping there are other things to eat besides pizza. I'm DEFINITELY NOT eating pizza. That stuffs poison to anyone watching their calorie intake. While I'm upping my calories, it WON'T be on pizza.

    Wow, the stuff about the water and protein I did not know but I know you cannot go without carbs at all. The brain requires carbs and what to do if the brain does not work is a scary thought. What we do is eat slow carbs like brown rice, whole wheat spaghetti etc. but absolutely no refined carbs. I hope you share your newfound knowledge about the way the body works with all your trainers. You are still in boot camp and that is so amazing. For sure you will win the trip!

    emoticon I am so HAPPY that You and Google were able to figure out the Mystery. It certainly made No Sense, did it? Now you can be the one to Educate the Trainer and the Dietician on the Questions they need to ask with their next Client who is having issues with the "Numbers"

    Thanks for sharing your research - all too often, we HEAR and sometimes even SAY to eat more when you exercise a lot and especially when eating a protein-rich, carb-poor type diet - BUT sometimes remembering, understanding, and/or DOING something about it is a BIT harder because so often nobody really explains in simple terms the REASON why it is important to eat more. It just feels so counter-intuitive to those of us who have been trying all our lives to lose weight following the OLD rules.

    Hope you can educate your trainer, dietitian and the weight loss lady...this is important stuff. Good for you for seeking out the answers..you could have really run into trouble down the road I imagine...hopefully not do damage. Have fun..hope the weather discussion was fun. emoticon
