Happiness is 37 pieces of flair

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

We watched "Office Space" last night for the first time in a few years. When it was over, i gave the girl a bath, and got her ready and into bed, came back into the living room... only to find that my husband had started the movie again--so we watched it again. It cracks me up every time. Highly underrated for when it came from, and for what it's about. Just awesome. I have a red Swingline stapler, by the way--which is, we learned last night from a special feature, something never made before the movie, before audience members started trying to contact Swingline to get one, and started buying knock-off red Swingline staplers off the internet.

Mine's not a knock-off. It's a red Swingline stapler. My stapler.

If you work...

I was going to say, if you work in an office... but even if you don't work in an office, you can totally get this movie. It's not really ABOUT the office. If you've never seen it, you should go out, now, and get a copy. It's from some time before 2000, and you'll see faces you recognize from all over the movie/TV industry. And you will laugh, even if you're from upper management.

Be warned: there is some strong language, nudity, and innuendo. LOTS of innuendo.

    I re-watch this movie a lot actually.

The best memory I have of it is when I was watching it with my best friend/sister in law. She hardly laughed at all, even though we both found it hysterical in other viewings BEFORE we graduated from college.

I was saying "I am SO glad my work isn't like this, teaching is a pain but at least I get to work with actual students" and when I asked her what was wrong and she said, "Oh my God Mandi...this IS MY OFFICE!"

A year later she used all her paychecks to pay off all her debt, had a baby, and became a stay at home mom.

What a great reminder! It's funny how you can totally enjoy a movie and then forget all about it for years at a time. It IS time to pick this one up again!

My nephew does a spot on imitation of Lumburg and it literally makes my skin crawl. emoticon

I've wanted a red Swingline stapler for years because of the movie! I still just have a black one. Maybe I should search for a red one and give myself a little treat.

It's so fun to turn to a movie that you really like, but haven't sat down and watched in awhile. Gives you a whole new appreciation. The other night the Mighty Ducks were on TV and my husband INSISTED we watch it. I think it took him back to being 10 years old :)
