Crisis mode versus waiting patiently mode

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

Quoting from Kelsey's mom's FB comment: "The doctors say we have to remember that this is a slow process.. it will take time. How much time, they don't know for sure."

As is my habit, I will take what's in the rest of my life and on my mind as fuel for the journey called "healthy living" and supporting motivation. With this precious young one's health crisis we had a scare. How often do "crisis" elements stop us in our tracks and perhaps redirect us? In fact, many of us who are traveling the path of healthy lifestyles began one phase or another with some form of crisis.

But when the crisis begins to feel not quite so severe, the question becomes, to what point do we "stand down". The human being is not built to stay at high alert forever. We wear out, and need to rest, take care of the physical body while our minds are dealing with the stressing factors.

So as the family sets in to continuing prayer and patient waiting in the case of Kelsey's health, the need is to pace themselves, and to give one another respite and breaks from the temptation to "will" faster results.

Dear Heavenly Father, give those who love someone undergoing long recoveries, this family and others, the patience to run the long distances of life... physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

LIFE is good. And precious. Cherish YOURS... and Spark on!

I'll take that prayer and run with it too!
Stress like that wears out the body and soul. I wish them all a decent night's sleep and faith in healing time.

Wishing you all well, and wishing you patience for the journey.

I know that you will be present through all of this, present and engaged.

Thanks, I needed to read this tonight. I love your prayer. Had close to two weeks of "stand down" time, now I am back on "high alert". The whole thing is breaking me. My prayers have become begging. So hard when it is your kid and you don't know if they are going to make it. I really feel for Kelsey's family and will continue to pray for you all.

Lord, grant me the strength to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Good reminder to cherish life . . . something we tend to forget during the ordinary "non crisis" periods!

Patience is a precious virtue so often under-appreciated in our 'instant', 'want it now' society.

Beautiful prayer. Tough situation. Your observations and analysis seem almost obvious and certainly correct, but something I have forgotten when needed more than once - patience, pacing yourself, trying to control only what is yours to control, taking care of yourself even when life is challenging, and so on. I envision you living in this wisdom and bringing others to it, too. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the reminder that we need to be patient and give it "time".
Nothing happens overnight in these situations. Praying for her recovery and
strength for her family. HUGS!
