I have said it before,..reminding myself again

All it takes to get on the right path is ONE step! That FIRST step....and we hesitate. We can't until we finish all the "bad" food in the house.(Is food really bad? A thought for another journal!) We can't because of the kids/dog/mate/neighbor/party next week/major holiday/hangnail on my left thumb....we can't because of our work schedule/kids' schedules/WHATEVER...but, I am telling YOU and, in the process, telling ME...that WE CAN!!!

We can pack our lunch/snack/whatever...or just wait until we get home (unless you have a medical reason not to, then you are back to planning a packed lunch or snack). There are tons of websites detailing the healthiest choices at each and every fast food restaurant....all we have to do is take the STEP of ordering those options at the drive thru window.

Oh, and the old excuse of "I messed up lunch, might as well start TOMORROW"...ummm NO! Why eat even MORE calories that we have to work off? Make dinner a success and move on!

And, that, folks is what I did tonight. I have been struggling with eating inappropriately on my night shifts, but tonight, I took the STEP, made the CHOICE, of waiting to eat!! If I can do it, I KNOW YOU CAN!!! I have faith in all of you!!!

    Good going! I get the daily FlyLady emails and her essay subject was really similar today. It starts:

"Dear Friends,

Why is it that we always need a starting point to begin to change our lives? You know how it is; On Monday I will start a new diet, quit smoking, start exercising or become a FLY Baby. Some of us wait till January 1st to begin a life change. If it is such a good idea then why do we need to wait for some other time to begin???

What is wrong with the Do it Now Principle? DING! I have preached for years that you are not behind and you can jump in anytime. Some days I have been known to start over in the middle of the afternoon."

You're on the one of the keys, I think! ONE STEP! Do It Now!

    Yes I hear you. I have a terrible time with eating while working the night shift. I make it a rule to never go downstairs and get my lunch from the "grill." The only good food option they have is a salad bar * sometimes. Most of the time they do not even have that. I am with you...no more excuses!
