Back to Work

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Literally. My quest to have my own business hit a big road bump last month - 2 upcoming contracts for the spring/summer got postponed and here I was caught with my proverbial pants down..... and I did not freak out.

I think all this planning and doing with spark has helped me keep my eye on the big picture. So I loaded up my resume on every site I could find - and someone found me. I lucked out big time. Not any dream job... just a steady sales job with a professional company. What I want long term. Probably not. But being a grown up is going to work when the mortgage has to get paid and putting the big dream on hold.....

So what's it like after working from home for a year and a half? Tough. And it's only Tuesday. Getting up a 6 is not my cup of tea. Commuting in rush hour for 40 minutes each way I could do without..... But its what I have to do for now....

The food plan is working out well. I get up early enough to have some fruit and a protein shake. I pack a salad and some nuts for lunch. I haven't walked at luch time yet - still getting my bearings... but I have been able to avoid the baked goods stacked up every morning in the lunch room. What is it with the bakers..... evil!!!!!!!!!!! My strategy is to just not start digging in and just to walk on by.... so far so good.

And in the evenings we've been making light dinners. Both me and hubby are on the weight loss wagon so it has been remarkably easy this past week or so to stay on track.
I know this is a boring blog. But now you know what I've been up to. Gardening in the evening. Cleaning house as I can't squeeze it in during the day between calls.

I miss my home based job and hope like heck that it will all come back together again by fall. But for now I'm on the 8 - 5 train. Oh well... maybe the structure will do me some good.

glad you were able to find a job when you needed one. I think I will miss being home the most when the weather gets bad- I hate driving to work when the weather is bad and having to be there on time.

great job staying on board with your eating during the transition! emoticon emoticon

I just want to commend you for doing so well ESPECIALLY when your whole world has turned upside down. The fact that you have changed from working out of your home to getting up and going to work and not letting that throw you for a loop is such an accomplishment. I am so proud of you! Keep it up girlie! emoticon emoticon

I guess it could be worse - you could be without a job - but it's definitely good timing as you needed it. Just remember - as we learn here - that sometimes we do have to adjust our sails to get to where we are going - it may seem as if we will never get to where we want to - but perhaps it is a change of course we needed. Keep the dream alive - and if there are things you can work on - improve - to make your dream a reality - try to fit in some time for that too.

Wishing you all the best.

Nice job making lemonade out of a lemon of a circumstance! You've got a good perspective and attitude. You'll make things work out, I think.

And boring blog? No. We are interested in our friend's life.
