Trying To Keep My Motivation Going

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

We had a lot of rain the past four days. Today, it isn't raining, but it has gotten very hot. It is 6:30 p.m. and 93 degrees outside. It is 83 degrees in the house with humidity at 65%. So it feels a lot hotter in the house than it actually is. Now I could have used the rain and heat for an excuse not to exercise. However, I know this verse and I know as a Christian my body is the temple of the HOLY GHOST. If I don't take care of this body, I grief the HOLY SPIRIT, which in turn grieves me. Plus, to know what I have to do to take care of my body and not to do it is sin. I can't give in to lust of the flesh. I have to be disciplined. Yes, I know there is a time to rest. Rest is important. I have exercise everyday but one during the week. I took one day to rest my muscles and body. I watched my food in a careful manner. I feel blessed the LORD is helping me with it all. I exercised early in the day to beat the heat. Except, one evening we went walking during a rain break and it was hot and humid. We still walked 40 minutes using the interval method of walking. I rewarded myself with a cold bottle of water and a cup of cold watermelon. Mmmmmmmm! I am keeping a closer watch on the cholesterol grams I consume. I am eating more fish and white meat of chicken. I am eating all vegetable meals a few times a week. I am praying I have a good weight lose this week when I weigh in. I do feel blessed.

You truly are making a great effort, and it will eventually pay off. Already you sound stronger by the way you describe the walking you do. Hang in there!

Heat can definitely sap me of energy! Our sport equipment is in our upstairs bonus room which accumulates heat from the house. It is open to the stairwell, no door. So I also try to work out in the early part of the day. I don't have as much humidity, the house has AC, but heat slows me down. I have a tv to watch while on my elliptical, but the morning shows bore me. And we don't have cable, so choices are few. I love to work out to dr oz at 4 pm. But as you say, we must do whatever it takes to take care of our bodies for the Lord!

With God we can accomplish anything!
For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good. Psalm 107:9
