WOW! We did it again, 1 week after our first Relay for Life we ventured out to find another one. The weather was going to be hot here in the Valley so we decided to drive to Healdsberg, CA and join them.

After about a 3 hour drive we arrived with our chairs in hand ready to go, we were greeted with open arms and assigned to team Earth Angels. Doug and Marty were a party of 2, and Doug is a cancer Survivor. What a great couple and so very kind and generous.

We started walking about 3pm with a goal of 20 miles......we stopped for dinner, and then again for the Luminaria ceremony. I think it was about 11pm or so when we decided to rest for a bit as our bodies were telling us we needed to.....at that point I think we had 10.5 miles done. We spread out on the ground with a sleeping bag, no pillows because I forgot them...ooops....I think I fell out very quickly, not sure that Rick did....about 2 am is I woke up and decided it was time to go again if I was going to get in my 20.....we walked from 2-4....rested from 4-5.....and then walked again from 5-6 and finished with 20.1 miles each.

Doug and Marty were resting when we quietly packed up....we left them a note and headed towards home. Rick drove for a bit, then I drove for a bit, then Rick drove the rest of the way......WOW staying up all night is a challenge for this old lady--lol

Some interesting things, as long as I was moving it was not as bad as when I stopped.....I was sore, and aching, but stopping made everything just get tight and stiff and not want to move at all.........it took a bit of moving around to get things going again......Sunday I was sore sore sore, hard time sitting, standing and even walking.....but after a good nights sleep come Monday it was not bad at all.

We are not sure when the next one will be, but we know that there WILL be a next one.

For now I will continue my walking at least 5 days a week and continue to work on our nutrition

These were events that were held at High School Track fields, they have EMT, Lights, music, and LOTS of people :) I have only been to 2 Relay for Life events, so I can't speak for all of them, but I would encourage anyone to check them out......GREAT CAUSE, and WONDERFUL PEOPLE :)
