New Strategy to Cut-Down on Coffee and Cut out Wine

After many slip-ups and frustrations, I decided I needed a different strategy to cut out my coffee and alcohol. I realize I had myself in a circular pattern that I needed to break. Enjoy a nice glass of wine with dinner - led to disrupted sleep -- 4am wake-up time led to increased caffeine consumption - which led to anxiety - which led to wanted a nice glass of wine to chill out after a tough/anxious day. So here is the new plan....

No wine at night....sleep great!....get up at 5am (extra hour of sleep = less need for coffee = less anxiety in my day)....noontime workout (will wake me up without caffeine)....meditate on train home....come home relaxed = no need for wine... eat healthy dinner....go to bed and get a good night's rest.

I am so excited about my new plan - I followed part of it yesterday and hope to follow even more of it today!! I am off to a great start with my Summer Challenge!!

    Thank you all so much for your comments and support. I have been without the wine for the past two days, which is not too hard for me, I will really have to tough it out when the weekend comes - or that "special event". I have the coffee down to two cups a day - now just one first thing in the morning. I will have to take it down to decaf soon. I just have to get over the mental part where yes, I will feel tired until I rid my body of the caffeine addiction. That is a tough one for me, but I CAN DO THIS!!

    Good plan. I gave up alcohol during the week. It relaxed me just enough to cause me to be careless with with what I ate for dinner. You know, a nibble here, a nibble there led to a pound here, a pound there. And it interrupted my sleep. Now a glass of wine or a cocktail during the weekend is a real treat. I switched to decaf coffee and herbal teas--that has helped, too, but I still get bouts of insomnia.

    Great plan! I'm still working on my own strategy, which involves less wine, but not cutting it out altogether.

    I cut out caffeine and I feel so much better. I have never been a drinker of alcohol so that isn't something I had to give up.

    I need to do the same, I don't drink coffee but I do drink diet coke....& yes, need to give up that one glass of wine with dinner...

    I cut out wine during the week, just planned ahead for a glass Friday night. Need to cut back on the coffee though. Like your idea of exercise at noon. Hmmmm
