good morning all--its Tuesday which means breakfast with friends. I actually remembered and just ate a little cottage cheese to hold me until later.
got my run in yesterday--just intended to do 4 miles, but I felt really good in the third mile, so I ended up going for five. not record time, but a good run. between all the outdoor work and loosing sleep over dorijane (who hurt her back again) I was really tired--but getting all the miles done felt really good.
today is a catch up day--I have some herb gardens to pot up so I can take them to the farmers market next sat., outdoor furniture to get out, two birdhouses to grout, plants to bring up so I can close the basement out for the season--and today will be the baby chicks first trip outdoors. we moved the kennel to where the henhouse is (no small feat in itself since we had to carry it clear across the pasture) and I will put a smaller enclosure inside of the kennel--they don't need the entire area to play in just yet--and daisy mae is small enough she could fit through the kennel fencing--so its a kennel inside of a kennel for now. it will be fun to see how they react to the new world. they are very interested in "outside" when I open the henhouse door several of them come over and look out.
eating was kind of a mess yesterday afternoon--but I managed to redeem myself by suppertime. its a very simple goal but I am trying to eat one item that is in the form it grew out of the ground in (i.e. fruits and vegs) with each meal. didn't manage it for lunch, and ate pretty junky for that meal since I was out racing around doing errands and starving, but I had half an apple when I got home, and had a healthy dinner. this time of year is always so challenging for our eating mainly because I don't have the time or the energy by suppertime to do anything remotely constructive.
well--its salads tonight--that shouldn't be too hard! have a great day everyone!

    On Sunday I cut up some chicken breasts into smaller pieces and poached them in water with seasonings. Each piece is 3-4 ounces, which takes some getting used to (!) but is healthier. I bought all of the things I like for salads: broccoli, cucumber, radishes, artichoke hearts (in water), baby pickled beets, red cabbage, mushrooms, yellow cherry tomatoes, and if there's room, I throw in a handful of lettuce or baby spinach. I love salads like this!! If you have the stuff on hand, it but takes 10 minutes tops to throw it all together! I know you will be happy when all the plants are out of the basement! And you're still mosaic-ing?? Wow! I'm sorry to hear dorijane's back is acting up again. I hope it gets better again soon. Have a good Wednesday!
