Despite still working on Sundays and having 2 voluntary jobs, I consider myself to be a lady of leisure with quite a lot of spare time. Today I decided to use it wisely and I went along to a keep fit class that runs in my local community centre. I have known about this class for quite a while but thought it might be a bit too easy for me as it is called "Keep Fit for Seniors". That title is something else that put me off going before.
I'm really glad I went and I plan to make it a regular event. It was a very friendly class and I even got a round of applause for joining!! Blush, blush. We did about 30 minutes of aerobic exercises, followed by a bit of t'ai chi, Pilates and relaxation. I managed to work up a healthy glow (men sweat and women glow) during the aerobics and loved the t'ai chi. It's always interested me and now that I have tried it I am going to look for a proper t'ai chi class as well.
Unlike my Pilates class which has very long holidays during the year, this keep fit class runs all year except when the tutor has her annual hols. It is going to be very good for me. We did a lot of exercises and moves that I realise I have been missing out on or even avoiding eg. side stepping and shoulder work. I can already feel my muscles pinging.
The class is at 10am which might sound early.
But I get up early and like to make the most of the day. After the class, I found that I was full of energy all day. I went for a long walk and then did some gardening including going around the edge of the lawn with the edging tool to tidy it up. I've been meaning to do that for weeks and today was the day I felt extra motivated.
