Saline kit for irrigating nasal passages. Relief!

Monday, June 10, 2013

Wish I knew about this years ago. And I found they have similar things for babies. As a baby and growing up I had terrible earaches. I bet using such a thing back then would have prevented my problems.

Even for years as an adult I had sinus infections which led to an operation. the surgeon made "windows" in my head--someplace! If I had only known about spraying saline solution up my nostrils!

I am not fond of a neti pot. I can't tilt my head enough for that.

I spent months on antibiotics for sinus infections.. my Dad used to tell me to snort salt water out of the palm of my hand. I would do it when I was really bad and needed relief....but the neti pot is so much easier. I also have a syringe that is for the purpose of squirting it up the nose. No antibiotics for years.

I love my neti pot, it has helped my sinus infections alot. I make my own mix, easy to do, from internet "recipe". Just keep it in a little container and when I travel I put some into an old film canister. I hadn't heard of them until a couple years ago. What a relief from my sinus headaches.

I can't do the Neti Pot, but love the Singulator! It's made by the same people and is battery operated. My allergies are in rare form these last two weeks and I'm back to using it twice a day. It's the only thing that helps me ward off sinus headaches, which are kissing cousins to Migraines in my opinion!

Chris, I'm glad you've found something that helps. I had similar sinus surgery years ago, but I guess my 'windows' are closing back up. My Mom used to mix salt water in her hand and sniffle it up her nose. emoticon but that grossed me out. I use a small ear syringe and the saline solution I mix in a mug.....hang my head over the toilet and squirt the mixture into my nose. Yeah, it's gross, but it only lasts a couple of minutes then my nose is more clear. To each his/her own.

My DS uses a neti pot and likes it. I personally have never used either the neti pot or the spray. Hope it works well for you. Take care and have a great week!

    Hi

I use saline as well but use simply saline. It is premixed and sterile. I do not like to miz solution. In winter, I use the methnol version.

I'm too lazy to deal with a neti pot or make the saline.... Every time I stand in the shower (I have a handheld handle) I spray the shower up my nose. It clears my sinus' summer and winter. So many other people end up sick and if I do, it doesn't last more than 2 days.... So glad I found out this works. emoticon

I do love my netti pot, but saline in anyway really takes care of those sinuses!

THE Neti pot takes time but oh how it feels and how well it works.
I always had ceramic ones and it was much harder to use.
Once I saw the inexpensive blue plastic one I bought it and I am hooked on it. I like the little packets of solution. The make it easy for us to take them with us when we travel.
Way to go Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yet if your a suffer you try anything. Not sure I would want to go the avenue the other gal went. Operation windows in your head. Oh that is not nice.

THEY ARE AWESOME. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS ALWAYS GETTING SINUS INFECTIONS. A FRIEND OF MINE HAD ONE AND USED IT ON HER AND THE STUFF THAT CAME OUT. OMG. I WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY AND GOT ONE. THEY HAVE EAR IRRIGATION THINGS NOW ALSO. THE ONE I GOT IS A CAN WITH A NOZZEL THING ON IT YOU PUT JUST INSIDE THE EAR AND IT SPRAYS SOMETHING IN IT. YOU NEED TO BE OVER A SINK THOUGH.

I don't like netti pots either but just sniffle salt water every night and it seems to help so much. Why buy something extra if you can just use your hand and water and salt.

It does help. Especially clearing out at the end of a day outdoors. Just had to mentally talk myself into doing it. It is pretty gross at first.
