FIGHT TO WIN
Instead of planning and preparing, we sometimes wait for things to happen and then wonder why. When it comes to temptation, if we wait for it to happen to us we may find ourselves unprepared. If we take that ‘wait and see’ approach, we aren’t fighting to win. We have to decide that when we are tempted, we need to take action. We can’t afford the consequences of sitting around doing nothing when temptation comes. We need to practice and know how we will respond to temptation.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know our battles are really not with each other. Our battles are with the enemy who wants our souls to burn in hell. Help us today, Lord, to begin to prepare for when we are tempted. Show us through Your word what we need to know to stand strong against the enemies in the dark world and give us Your strength and power to overcome them. Help us today, Lord, to take the right actions for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Just as we set goals on what to do to be successful in life, we need to plan how we will react when temptation comes.
When tempted, take action. Read God’s word. Talk to a godly friend. Get busy doing God’s work.
We can’t afford to do nothing when we are tempted. The cost is too great. We have to take action and not let the evil one win.
We need to know now how we will respond to temptation and stay firm in our faith in God.
In order to stay alert to temptation, we can set goals, say affirmations and take daily steps to strengthen ourselves to resist and remove ourselves from situations where we could be tempted.
1 Peter 5:8-9a “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.” (NLT)
James 1:12 “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” (NLT)
