Frustrated with injury

Sunday, June 09, 2013

Yes, injured in martial arts again. Some pretty good muscle strain. Nothing permanent. Have been sidelined almost two weeks now.

I don't know if it was from practicing standing front rolls, or from grappling. No one is really applying force in the grappling, but there is someone on top of you and you are wiggling around and trying to get your leg over their head. HAH.

My husband has some of the same strains on him from it too.

Very sore back spot, sore hip on one side, sore glute. "Sore" is a misnomer. It's more than sore. It's painful. As in sit in the car, feel the seat on you and say "Ow".

And I've been eating more than I should. Even though I know I shouldn't. I currently have no motivation for dealing with hunger.

I'm seriously thinking of returning to Weight Watchers meetings. I would still use my Lose It app, but the meetings might help focus my mind. That's worth $10 a week.

Having a great weekend, though! Yesterday I went to meet my knitter buds for World Wide Knit In Public day, and there were TWO street music festivals going on within blocks of our meeting place. Good thing I had a sun hat on! I was tardy to knitting, listening to the music.

Today it's back there (downtown) for a "Pickin' Circle" at a brewpub. My husband plays mandolin (among other instruments) and there's a group that gets together there to jam. Then we're going to see Jake Shimabukuro play!!! So exciting. He's an amazing ukelele player. Look him up on YouTube. He's awesome. Saw him play once with Jimmy Buffett.

What's going on with you?

Motivation? I guess! I know that I would have also bailed after all of the injuries you've encountered. I think you are stubborn (in a good sense) enough to beat the heck out of martial arts. :)

You have some motivation with the martial arts. I would have bailed by now. I don't like getting hurt. Maybe you can treat yourself to a massage when the worst of the soreness goes away.

    :) :) :)

Asking if there's a warmup in martial arts class is like asking if there's water in the ocean.
