The Cleanse
Well, I learned a lot from yesterdayís blog. You, my friends, are making such a difference in my life. Hereís my plan:
1. I only drink unpasteurized organic milk now. Iíll cut back, and still have a little during the next 6 weeks. Iíll also keep the Greek Yogurt in my diet. Iíve never had any problem with milk in my diet, but Iíll lean more towards the almond milk.
2. What Iím taking out of my diet is all white flour, sugar, and all junk foods.
3. Things I WONíT give up: alcohol (I have 2-3 small swigs from my husbandís beer each night.) and coffee (I have one cup each morning).
4. Iíll drink more than my usual 8 glasses of water, ad keep my exercise levels high during the 6 weeks.
5. Yoga and deep breathing every day.
6. Every week, Iíll add one new food to my diet slowly. This week I added
7. Iím not going to consult my Dr. on this. Iím not going to do anything that is drastic except eat a healthier diet. I donít see how this can hurt me. I will eat a balanced diet during the cleanse.
This is MY plan, based on Dr. Mark Hymanís cleanse in his book The Blood Sugar Solution. I will refer to his book during the 6 weeks.
What I want to get out of the cleanse:
1. More energy.
2. Clearer thinking.
3. Lower glucose readings. Generally, readings are 110. I had one recently at 200. WOW! I did not like that at all. I want my readings to be below 100. 80 is my dream number. Once I get numbers consistently under 100, Iíll aim lower.
4. I want a long, healthy life. The decisions that I make today will affect my life next year.

There are many more mountains to climb! I want to keep myself in tip top shape to climb them. This is the only body that I get, and I'm learning how to care for her properly.

  emoticon awesome, all sound good!

the 200 reading... was that *early* (earlier than 2 hours after starting meal) or on a sick day? Sometimes i can identify the reason, sometimes not.... sometimes it seems directly related to what i ate, and sometimes to nothing i can identify. hope you see results soon, this is really awesome! and you are doing gr8 being proactive with your journey, both eating & otherwise... WTG!

sounds like a well thought out plan that you can stick with. Because I was testing for food allergies, I gave up just about everything for the first couple of weeks except for lamb, brown rice and a few fruits and veggies that weren't common allergens. The coffee was a killer, I won't ever give that up again.
Even though you're not going quite as extreme, don't be surprised if the first few days are a little uncomfortable. I had constant headaches for about 3 days, the lack of caffeine made me extremely irritable (when I wasn't sleepy, ha ha) and I truthfully didn't have a whole lot of energy left over for exercise for the first week. But once the discomfort clears, all the benefits start becoming apparent.
I once had a diabetic boyfriend, could eat most foods in moderation and keep his sugar low. White Pastas, though, spiked those numbers every single time.
