BLC22 Goals

Saturday, June 08, 2013

Well - for the first weekend challenge, part of it is to take time to write down our goals for this BLC. I am going to write out goals for the following: exercise/fitness, food, scale, and non-scale. So.........here goes!

As far as fitness is concerned:

My goal is to complete a streak of 10 minutes of intentional fitness in EVERY DAY of this challenge. I know myself - I know how it all adds on to itself.

In addition to that, I want to keep the BLC streak going, and complete 20 minutes of intentional activity, 5 days per week. I am sure I can accomplish this, but I want to mentally give myself "permission" to do 10 minutes if that is all I have time to do!

I also am aiming to do a minimum of 3 days of ST. One day of upper, one day of lower, one day of core. If I can keep that up during the 12 weeks of BLC, I will reevaluate once it's over and see how to modify/change it up then.

Food goals:

I am going to aim to get in 3 servings of veggies and 2 of fruit DAILY. That is a big difference for me. I will give myself permission to do JUST that...and of course will celebrate big if I go over that!

I am going to work hard to figure out the nutrition tracker on here, and to get my food tracked properly so that I can actually SEE how much food I'm eating in a day! As my teammates have already attested to, this is going to make a huge difference for me. I can see, now, that having the numbers 'crunched' for me on SP make a big difference in the reports section!

Scale goals:
I have taken part in the 5% challenge, and they run for 8 weeks. That is an attainable amount for me. Since this is 12 weeks long, I decided to do 7.5%, which works out to 18 pounds for me. I think that is reasonable, and something I could easily achieve! It works out to 1.5 pounds a week - since my BMI is over 30, that shouldn't be a problem!

Non-scale goals:
If I can actually lose the 18 pounds I have set in my goal, then I will be 210 pounds. In that instance, my set of rings that I bought when I gained weight (my "fat set" - see blog here: www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
ge_public_journal_individu
al.asp?blog_id=5259419
) will be able to fit easily!! (I tried today - I still haven't lost enough weight to get them all the way down. Almost...but not all the way!)

I honestly don't think I am being too hard on myself here, and that I can achieve these goals in the next 12 weeks. Normally, I would shoot for beyond the moon, and come crashing back down to earth. I'm thinking some of my goals can be exceeded...if so, GREAT! But if not, either way, I think this will be a great platform for me to jump from to keep my motivation and momentum moving forward! :-)

Let's see what's in store for the next 12 weeks!! :-) YEAH!

You can do it. One other thing I want to share with you - stop eating low fat. Thats the one thing my new gym has me doing. No lowfar or fatfree and don't worry about the far. Now if I can just get rid of my love affair with cheese... thats probably my downfall.

I found tracking food becomes way easier if you write down the nutrition yourself instead of just going what SP says.
Weighing the food and then just going by the nutritionvalues given on the package (unless it's apples and such) and then adding Everything into SP makes it easy. After awhile, you no longer need to weigh anything, you basically know what Everything weighs (like my morning granola cereal, I can measure out exactly 45 grams lol)
Small goals are way easier to achieve and makes it easier to follow through, I have learned this time around.
You are doing a great job (you wonder-mom you!) and I admire you.

Just for having set a goal, you will do better than not having a goal. Good luck! Make it happen.

Good Luck on your goals for this Challenge. BTW - it is not "IF I can actually lose the 18 pounds" it is "WHEN I can actually lose the 18 pounds" emoticon

All of what Pam said - she's a very smart lady, ya know. And it sounds like you have your head in the game.

Much success to you.

Like you said, the tracker will be the biggie. The more you work with it the easier it gets. Get your favorite recipes set up in Sparkrecipes too ( you don't have to make them pretty or share them with anyone), it makes tracking that much easier.
