running gear

Saturday, June 08, 2013

Since I now have a paying job, I'm working through that backlog of stuff I've been meaning to buy. A few things are running related, and I thought I'd do a quick write-up about them here.

First of all, there's the SpiBelt. I posted a full review on my blog here: fuchsiagetsfit.blogspot.
I've been on 4 or 5 runs with it now, and I don't have anything negative to say. It holds my house key, phone, license, and debit card with room to spare, and it doesn't bounce around. Finally, I can feel secure knowing that I'm going out on my runs with a working phone!

Second, I saw that there were some sports bras on sale on the Moving Comfort website so I ordered the Fiona bra:
I've been on two runs with it and I have to say, I think that it is PERFECT. There's absolutely no bounce [size 38C] which I've found is almost impossible with running [even my other sports bra, which is really good, has noticeable bounce]. It's also SUPER comfortable, so I tend to wear it all day if I'm not going for a run until later [like today...]. I was wary of the velcro straps, but this isn't the velcro I had growing up, this is heavy duty stuff and it STICKS. So, I plan on ordering some more of this model in the next few weeks.

Third, BodyGlide. Let's face it, for those of us with glorious Thunder Thighs, chafing is an issue. I'd get horrible burns from my legs rubbing together when running, so I finally ordered some of this [I had it in my head that only "serious runners" who run 10+ miles a day should be using it, or something?]. I've used it on 3 or 4 runs now and guess what: no chafing! I got the lotion-like Body Glide, but I'll try out the stick next time. It's definitely worth the investment so far.

Also, not a product and not necessarily running related, but I tried this solution for shaving my legs this morning: militaryfit-bombshell.tu
and it is AMAZING. My legs are so smooth! Definitely recommended. I wonder if this will improve my running speed...? emoticon

So, yeah. There's a quick list of things you should check out, if you're so inclined.
