List for a Dear Spark Friend

Saturday, June 08, 2013

I dear SP friend recently admitted (and WHY is this a reluctant admittance for some people?!) that she and her family enjoy at least some country music and artists.

My favs right now are Zac Brown, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins and Toby Keith.

I'm sure there is a SP team for this genre, but I'm on so many!

The main reason I love country is the spiritual songs in recent years. Here's a partial list. Tell me if you're familiar, if you like them, check them out on youtube.

Don’t Laugh at Me – Mark Wills
When I Get Where I’m Goin’- Dolly and Brad Paisley
Life’s a Dance - John Michael Montgomery
The River – Garth Brooks
Live Like You Were Dyin’ – Tim McGraw
I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack
Angels Among Us – Alabama
My Wish – Rascal Flatts
Set You Free – Gary Allen (my current favorite!)
Love Can Build a Bridge – the Judds
We All Bleed Red – Ronnie Dunn
Something to be Proud Of – Montgomery Gentry
Not really spiritual, but what more could you need in life but:
Chicken Fried – Zac Brown Band

Then there are the drinkin' songs! Wanna list?

for the most part, I'm an alternative rock fan. But I do have some country stations saved to the pre-sets in my car.

I like really old country (Hank Sr, Don Williams, Johnny Cash). And I love anything by Josh Turner. Sis is a big Zac Brown fan; what I've heard, I like (though I've not bought any of his music yet). Knee Deep has been playing in my head for WEEKS!

if you want spiritual, give Josh Turner's "The Way He Was Raised" a listen. WOW. That one kind of took my breath away.

I've been a country fan since 1994, been to many many concerts and even danced for a few years 6 nights a week !!!

My favs (right now) are Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church and I will forever love the Dixie Chicks !!! I hear Natalie has a new solo CD released !!!

But my all time fav song is MY WISH by Rascal Flatts. I matted and framed the words to give to my nephew for his graduation. I just loved the song !!!

We have good things in common my friend.

HUGS and Hopes to you.

Love country music (George Jones, Reba, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck, etc.) The newer artists seem to think the songs must sound like "rock" or "rap" (which I despise). I quit watching the Country Music Awards for this reason. Hard to find a decent "real country" radio station. Sad.....

I grew up on country (the ol' STORY telling songs by George Strait, Garth Brooks, Reba, etc.) and then I wiggled away from it in high school and college, but once I met my husband I got back into it, since he listened to it.

We both are so disappointed to see more "pop" orientated country songs, your list is very nostalgic. I love almost all those songs.

And Zac Brown Band- whoowee FINALLY someone who harmonizes! I just love them, their song "Whatever it is" is my husband and mines song

I would love a drinking song list, as long as "Red Solo Cup" is on it- hehe
