Misconceptions

Saturday, June 08, 2013

When I first cut out sugar about two weeks ago I thought that surely I would lower my calorie intake.... I mean, usually I would have a dessert after every dinner, that's 200 - 300extra calories. Strangely it doesn't work like that with me. At the end of each day I'm still at the upper end of my calorie range. It's just like a maths problem and doesn't make sense at all at times... ou well. My goal though for this coming week is to cut down on my calorie intake a bit, just 100 or 200cal, I can't cut down too much, cause I just need the fuel, or I'd constantly be hungry, and much rather inclined to binge.

I was a little disappointed this morning when the scales went up 100g... lately it just feels like 2 steps ahead, 1 step back... at least it isn't 1 step ahead, 2 steps back...71.2kg is so close to being under 70kg... only 1,2kg. I can do this, no matter if it's 2 more weeks, or even three... even if it takes another month.... I WILL trot along and keep on kicking.

We went for a 2h bike ride today. It does sound rather impressive, and it was impressive that my now 5 year old rode all the 16,5km by himself, yet it wasn't much of a workout for myself, we had an average speed of 8.2km/h. Yet... better being out there and moving than sitting on the couch doing absolutely nothing, right???
I'm so grateful, that my boy can ride his bike without training wheels. I'm so proud of him that he peddles so hard with his little wheels and even though we do hear some complaining, he still goes on, even if he falls off his bike or gets his shoe laces tangled around his pedal, I'm proud of you, son!!!

This evening we went to a little party at a friends place and I was rather pleased with myself, I had one crustless quiche or whatever it was and a couple of chicken wings... okay, the wings still had the skins on, and were a bit greasy, yet I did not eat any dessert nor did I give in to drinking a diet soda. I have to confess though that as soon as we were home and the boys in bed, I devoured a mango and had a some unsweetened apple sauce, I did feel a bit deprived not having any of those wonderful looking desserts and needed something "sweet" and the fruit was just perfect.

Now I'm off to bed... seeya later world!! Keep on shining.
