I don't know what happened to me yesterday. In retrospect, it was definitely one of those days where I can say, "no wonder I was overweight"!.
I started the day out good. I had an egg/veggie omlette for breakfast (made sure to buy eggs Wednesday night), and a healthy lunch that I packed and then I get home!
So far, I have not had the "lazy days of summer"! For whatever reason, just about every activity my girls are participating in this summer - from sports to vacation bible school to driver's ed. etc. - take place in the morning through mid-afternoon. Right when DH and I are at work! There wasn't much going on last week (first week of summer vacation) since we were camping, but this week has been a nightmare and the rest of the summer will be the same.
I'm exhausted from trying to figure out a "driving schedule" to get everyone where they need to be (actually had to type out a schedule). Fortunately I can be flexible with my hours, DH works different hours (but is working a lot of side jobs) and my dad is also available. Still, it's still been a major headache.
Anyway, one good thing is it frees up the evenings. I got home yesterday after work and was really tired, so I resorted to some of my old habits! DD#1 got her braces of Tuesday (for the second time - long story) and the orthodontist office gave her a real nice water bottle with a balloon tied to it. The water bottle was filled with candy - yes candy from an orthodontist! Really good stuff too. So I found myself munching on Snickers & Reeses cups. Granted they were the mini bars, but seriously! I'm not even sure how many I ate. I quickly put them in a little baggie and put them in the back of the freezer! I didn't want to throw them away since I seemed to be the only one with the "eat them all at one time" mentality. They have been sitting on the counter for almost 2 days and no one else had eaten any! Plus, they were DD#1', not mine!
So DH gets home from his side job (after 6:00) and wanted to run. It was over an hour since I had the candyfest, so I went with him. It wasn't really hot, but really, really humid (Tropical Storm Andrea was going through South Georgia at this time). I had a good run, but sweated up a storm.
DH had ordered pizza for the girls (+ 2 friends) and it was on the counter when we got home. By the time I showered, it was after 7:30 and I still hadn't eaten (unless you count the candy and I don't!). So I had 2 pieces of pizza! There were plenty of veggies on it, so it was ok, right?!
Oh well, it was just one of those days. At least I had a healthy breakfast & lunch and got in a run!
I'll probably run with DD#2 tonight since she didn't have any type of workout today. DH is off on a rare Saturday, so we'll probably do some yard work and he'll probably want to run. DD#2 and my niece are not going kayaking on Saturday (my niece is going on Sunday instead and DD#2 has to keep score at a basketball tournament), so I won't be watching great-nephew since his grandmother (my sister) will be watching him. She'll probably come by and we'll take him to the park.
It will be a good weekend of activity, so hopefully I won't find that candy in the back of the freezer (or maybe someone will have eaten it all!).
