Quilts, anyone?

Friday, June 07, 2013

Yesterday afternoon DH got the step ladder out and emptied the top of the closets in the spare room. This is where we store all sorts of stuff we don't need on a regular basis, including DD guitar which was the main reason we went in there - it needed checking and airing.. It smelled really musty but is much better this morning. I already warned her sh needs to bring new strings when she comes to visit this fall. Hmm... maybe I should take up playing again? It's been 30 years, so I'll have to start from scratch.

Oh my!! I had never realized how much stuff we brought down here "just in case" not knowing the size bed we were going to get etc.

Here's a list of some of the things we found:
5 king size quilts
2 king size comforters and 1 matching bed ruffle
6 sets of sheets and a few extras in all different sizes
10 towels
3 pillows
3 bar stools (still in the box, unassembled)
4 valances and 4 curtain panels
a box with 10 coffee mugs
and other miscellaneous bits and bops..

The good news is that a lot of the stuff we can donate and the rest we can use or take back to Colorado for use there. DH uses a lot of towels on the boat, so he was happy to find another pile.

Why do we accumulate so much stuff??? That Justin Case guy has to lot to answer for!

It's like we're afraid that someday we're going to be without and not be able to buy any more stuff. I think that buying all stuff (I am at least as guilty if not more!) will be the reason I may someday have to go without! If you can find a way to stop accumulating, please fill us in on your secret.

I think Justin Case has been to my house to, lol. A basement filled with some stuff. That would be a nice thing to take up guitar again and play with your hubby.

Lol, love the Justin Case comment.

I could use one of the comforters. haha

Seriously though, I too accumulate too much stuff. But I am scared to get rid of things just
"in case I need it" ( there is that Justin Case guy again)

I love quilts! Sorry you have to get rid of them! :-(

I am sure you are loving the de-cluttering! I know how much you like to be organized!

Way to go!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have way too much stuff! I started this week going through clothes and finally parting with sizes that are way too big that I know I won't let myself get back into. I also took some of my favorites to be altered down. My maid is happy to be the recipient of many things....but still have a long way to go. I don't like the process of deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. It's a pain in the butt.
Enjoy the rest of your week end.
Sallie
