Weigh-in Day...

Friday, June 07, 2013

So I did it. I weighed in for the first time since last month. I haven't tracked a weigh-in since April. I was at 143 last month. April I was 141. Now I am 146! I am not very happy. I can't use the excuse of extra muscle cause I know it is not. I need to get my butt on track. Not weighing in will only work if I don't use it as an excuse to slip here and there. You would think I would atleast stay the same weight. I know Im not eating thousands of extra calories. I don't get how I've gained back 5 lbs! Oh well, maybe some of it is water weight and added muscle. I don't know, but, that's what the scale says. So I am really going to get focused and watch myself this next week. I am going to weigh in again next Friday. I can tell I have backslid a bit with how I feel too. I feel a little more squishy than I did a few weeks ago. Well, this was the kick in the butt I needed. I am back on track now. No excuses!

On a brighter note I finally beat my streak for spinning the spark wheel today!! Day 26 straight!!

I'd be willing to bet you weigh less the next time you step on the scale. It may just be water weight. I understand how disheartening it can be to stay away from the scale for a month and then expect big things... like a 5 pound drop and then be disapointed. I went for a month recently without weighing myself and found I'd only lost a pound. I'm grateful that I didn't gain, but it was definitely a bummer.

So you learned something, the scale helps you to stay accountable. I learned the same thing. You'll be back to losing and feeling better about everything in no time!

The scale does seem to help keep us on track and helps us refocus. You have a good plan and can get back on track! A once a week weigh-in seems to work better than once a month too. You can do this! emoticon
Congrats on your Streak! emoticon

It could very well be water weight. Maybe it's that TOM? Whatever it is, don't let it get you down! You got this! emoticon emoticon

I got rid of my scale as well, and I am not sure if it was a good thing or not. My eating has gotten worse because I don't have to be accountable daily for what my scale will say the next day. On a different note, I usually go up in weight, and get a squishy almost melty fat feeling right before I lose a bunch of weight and my skin tightens up. If you are consistently eating well, and exercising your body will catch-up, it just likes to make sure you really want to do this. How Bad do you want it? How much do you deserve this?

I always know when I've gained a few extra pounds by an ache in my lower back or in my knees. It usually kicks in when I've gained about 5 lbs. Well, sweetie, you have the right answer to this. It's time to re-focus. Actually, you already posted in your previous blog about Complacency that you recognized the need to re-focus , so you are already back on track! Today is just a confirmation of what you already knew. Thankfully it's only 5 lbs and you do have the knowledge and tools and determination to reclaim your victory. As Walden9 mentioned, flucuation in weight is normal. We all experience that. All we need to do is take inventory of what the possible causes are and, if necessary, make adjustments.

Hang in there, my friend! Victory is yours!

we all tend to fluctuate in our weight while trying to lose. there is no reason to get stressed out. worry will not help. what I do is keep a food journal and write everything that I eat. this way I am accountable and I can see what I am doing wrong. I also put a picture up on my refrigerator how I would like to look once I get to my ideal weight. don't get me wrong, I do have slip ups, but I try to exercise for at least one hour or close to it for about 5-6 days a week at the gym doing cardio and strength training. yes, there are times when I thought I was ready to give up, but thank God I belong to a weight loss support group here in town. I am always busy looking for tips online for how to lose weight and the right things to eat. I belong to another weight loss support group on this website and yet another website. I also have a wellness counselor that helps me. I am going to fight this battle with all I have until I get to where I need to be. yes, it is a big challenge and struggle, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
