Trying to Stay on Track

Friday, June 07, 2013

This has been an incredibly stressful week with my mother in the hospital. Trying to focus on work and coordinating her care, etc. has been tough.
What has suffered? My exercise. Now I am paying for it with back issues. I think I've worked out 2 days this week. Hopefully today will be day 3.
My mother is improving and yesterday they didn't overmedicate her so at least we could have a conversation when we visited.
The doctor told me the other day that she'd probably be going home on Friday or Saturday but I didn't hear anything yesterday and didn't even see the doctor so I doubt it will be today.
I'm kind of hoping that it's Sunday actually. The doctor wants her to have 24-hour care for a week and I have them starting on Sunday. If she's released before that I will be the one staying overnight, which is okay but I prefer my own bed!
Working at home again today so I WILL get in a workout and hopefully make some headway on my project, then go to the hospital tonight for a visit.
For some reason I thought I would get a rest with my mother in the hospital but it's actually been more stressful because I've been worrying about her. emoticon

I'm also glad that your Mom is improving and that you worked from home again. Anything you can do to give yourself some relief from some stress and allow you to pay attention to your own fitness is a good thing. The stress alone can cause aches I think, especially in the back and neck in my experience. Maybe it's a good day for some relaxing yoga.

    Take care!

Hang in there buddy. Take it a day at a time and do what you need to do. Triage or prioritize (whatever you want to call it) in the moment and address the most important pressing issue and don't question yourself later. Know that you were doing what you needed to be doing in the moment. And remember that sometimes the most important thing may become your own 'me' time. emoticon

You know I am in a somewhat similar situation, and I don't necessarily practice what I preach, but PLEASE take care of yourself. The workout (even a modified one) may be more of a necessity than a luxury at this point.

I hope she does get released on Sunday and that you can make a teeny bit of time for yourself in the meantime.

You have to take some time for yourself or you will just make yourself sick. Remember, I'm thinking about you. I know it is not easy.

This is a tough situation. Deal with each situation as they arise and be good to yourself. Remember in order to be the best and strongest you you have to be good to yourself. don't beat yourself up but try as you can and focus when you do. I hope that your Mom improves and brighter days are ahead for your family and you!

It is so hard when loved ones are sick and in the hospital. I hope your mom gets well very soon. Most important is taking care of yourself. The workout you have planned may be just the ticket for a little stress relief for you.

I just know you'll make up for the lack of exercise this past week. Give yourself a break! I know it might be hard to see a lack of progress this week but you have been dealing with a lot. Next week is a new week. Your mother will be home and you can get your head back in the game :)

Praying that your Mom will be better and that you can de-stress. The exercise does help the stress. Went through a lot like this the past year with my Mom who is 90. Hang in there, one day at a time. emoticon
