It is all in the mind

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Fighting the history of leaping into terrible eating patterns after spraining my knee is apparently showing early favorable results! Passed the candy section; ignored the chocolate bars that bulge out upon you as you wait hours in the checkout line; and didn't order the sandwiches that the picture changing video hawk as you wait for the human to wake up and take your order. Exercise is building, slow movements but moving, and will head to the pool tomorrow. Mental awareness and dedication are the keys for me.

There are temptations lurking around every corner, especially this time of the year. Many of them are stored in our heads, but I always counter the unhealthy with something that is healhier. When I am temped by peanuts I grab carrots or apples. The funny element of this trade of, is I probably consume enough of the replacement item that I could have eaten the nuts and had less calories. I do allow myself nuts, just reserve them when I need fat or protein at the end of my tracking or before bed as a treat.
Thanks for your comment on my 11 calories/min efficiency. I used to run and that burned 13/14 per min so I am trying to get that back by hook and crook.

Have a great evening! emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you're convicted to a healthier lifestyle, and slow is still a speed which indicates movement.

Good for you! Isn't it amazing how many "temptations" there are? I never realized how much FOOD was advertised on tv before I started on SparkPeople. Good luck with the knee. The pool will be great!

Mental awareness is key. We don't have to keep living our history and habits. Thanks for the reminder!
