ayman update and photos of how the house in tunisia is coming along

Thursday, June 06, 2013

first went to hospital with ayman yesturday as he was really bad with his asthma tuesday night so bad that i even had to revert to rectadelt(thank heavens for the inventers of rectadelt)i had luck as before going to the emergency room with him i phoned his lung specialist professor von meutius at the herzog ambulance if they could fit him in.they said if i brought him straight away they would fit him in which was a big relief.a) they know his medical history and know him so can judge better also as i got at the hospital i didnīt even have to wait which i might have had to do in the emergency.as soon as i walked through the door they said zimmer 1 the proffessor is waiting for you.we were in and out of the hospital in 2 hours which is good going.they took 5 philes of blood from him for allergy test s(the skin hospital he was stationary in just before new year wanted to wait till his skin is clear to do the allergies test.guess what we are still waiting lol.so i should get the results from that in two weeks.they upped his budiair to three times a day and subultamol as and when need, cough medicine.apperantly he has an viral infection that has agrevated his asthma and they think also hayfever.at least they didnīt keep in him.

now onto the house in tunisia.as many of you know we had to sell the house lotfi made me for our wedding presant that was in kiauran(where lotfi was born and his family has lifed in that place for generations)to move into a house nearer tunis itself(hammem lif) as it is nearer the hospital for lotfiīs father and also the sea air is better for him,we have a less than 5 minutes walk to the sea so it is better for the kids as well.there was nothing for them to do in kiauran.in the house in kiauran it was a lot bigger and we had the downstairs of it the upstairs being a bit smaller was for lotfiīs parants and his siblingsin hammam lif it is alot smaller haus and his parents have the downstairs as his father can no longer go up stairs and we have the top half.i donīt mind it being smaller as it means less housework and we are only there in the summer holidays.it is worth being in a smaller place if it means we are a walk away from the sea.also their is a nice moutain only 10-15 minutes away by car which is nice for hiking .you can see a bit of the moutain in the terrace photos.

here is the terrace tiles they were a bit expensive and more than we had planed to spend on them but i fell in love with them as soon as i saw them and just had to have them.i have picked the colour pink for the terrace walls and the outside of the house so when we are their it will remind me of my fellow team mates on the blc the pink vikings.hopefully it will help me not go to far off this healthy lifestyle road, lol.i also love pink on houses though it took alot of persaudtion to get lotfi to agree.his sister saw the colour yesturday and skyped us straight away saying lotfi yopu canīt have that colour and white or beige is better, his mother also said the same to him when he was there but he knows i set my mind on it.i think he was also feeling guilty that when he was in tunisia last he changed the kitchen tiles from the one i originally picked to one that was a lot cheaper though in the same colours i want.he also changed the kitchen units.i wanted the same wood as i have on the doors but he changed them to like white aluminium.i have yet to see the finished product.my only fear is that while lotfi is not there they might ask the painter to paint it the colour they want which would really pee me off big time.so here is the viewfrom the terrace and also the pink patch to show what coul it will be.

the last photo is a view from the hall way with the front door open.sorry it is a bit dark.the flooring throughout the flat i wanted originally to do with parkett but it is too hot their and everyone has cermic tiles as they help to keep the plce cool in the heat so we have tiled the house right through with parkett loke tiles.you canīt see it very good in the photos as they are all full of the dust etc.here are some of the living room/hallway before and where we are up too now.i am still looking for some nice christal chanderlieres for the living room and bedroom.so i am searching the papers and second had sites on internet and lotfi is scouring car boot scales and fleamarkets but to no avail up to now. but hopefully you will get the gist of the finished look.

sorry the before photos wouldnīt download too large.now onto the kitchen.the marble work top lotfi accidently broke it when he was cutting out the hole for the sink so that is still to be fixed.and the kitchen units still have to be finished.

our bedroom

the window of the kids room we have installed a railing as there is a big drop that side of the house.

lotfi is hoping to go back for a week the 1st july to make a built in wardrobe and make double beds for the kids room.we might not get the whole place finished by this year but it will at least be liveable and we are in no rush as most of the time there we will be at the see and not in the house.hope you enjoyed the photos.alot of the better photos were too large to download.

I love it!! reminds me of my home in INdia...I was in 5th grade when mom dad planned to buy an apartment..so beautiful. We had the exact same green tiles..which they recently changed up as the flat is 20 years old...but there is something about watching it get done..I remember my dad and mom were crying when we entered that place for the first time..their very own place:) I miss it..Im sure ur kids will have similar memories:) love it..congrats!!!

What great pictures. It will be a great place for summer holidays. Hope your son feels better soon. I have kids with allergies and it gets so scary especially with the asthma.

Very happy to hear that Ayman did not have to remain in the hospital. I hope he will be feeling a lot better very soon.

Your house will look so lovely once it is finished. I know it's a lot of work but it will be worth it in the end so nice to enjoy. Thank you for sharing the photos with all of us.

What a beautiful home. And the pink is not too pink. I think it's a nice neutral peachy color that is very calming. It reminds me of the homes along the Gulf of Mexico. I hope that you keep it!

Karen I loved looking at all of the photos from your home. My favorite by far is the picture of what I think maybe your front door. I love that detailed woodwork. I know you can't wait for it to be finished but just as you said you won't be spending too much time in the house as your favorite thing to do there is to swim in the sea.
Thanks so much for sharing.
