Swim Routine

Yay, went swimming again today. My current goal is to go once a week in addition to my regular workouts. I did part of Insanity beforehand too which kind of inspired me. Since my pool doesn't offer any water aerobics classes, I decided to create my own. Armed with knowledge from Sparkpeople, and inspired by Shaun T, I swam interval laps, stopping twice each way to do 10 reps of an exercise (my pool is 50m long).
Lap 1: warmup breast stroke, back stroke
Lap 2: wamup freestyle
Lap 3: freestyle + 2x10 butt kicks
Lap 4: freestyle + 2x10 treading water
Lap 5: freestyle + 2x10 jumping jacks
Lap 6: breast stroke with dolphin kicks at either end
Lap 7: freestyle + 2x10 high knees
Lap 8: freestyle + 2x10 scissor kicks
Lap 9: legs only + running in place
Lap 10: freestyle speed lap
Lap 11: walking
I didn't get bored, and the time passed really fast! Before I knew it, I'd been in the water for 40 minutes! That's over 400 calories :D

    emoticon seems like a great routine...I love water aerobics...they have classes here at our university and I think some even out in the's such a great way to exercise! good luck! :)
