Two types of unexpected victories

Thursday, June 06, 2013

This morning I had a scale and non-scale victory

Last night I had half a Pizza Hut large pizza. I've been bugging hubby for at least three weeks that I wanted pizza. It's not really on the plan that I'm following with my doctor, but I was craving. (It's not a forbidden food, but restaurant pizza is not recommended because of the high fat and sodium.) This morning I was down half a pound! Here's what I think happened - I started working out, and my body got scared. It started to prepare for starvation, and it needed a little extra something for assurance we were not going to starve. (Yes, I am picturing a cat with a half full bowl of food meowing loudly that it is starving right now. Silly kitty.) Just taking one day where I ate at the top of my calorie range was enough to put things back in balance.

Now, the non-scale victory. I bought this really cute tunic. I ended up getting a 2x because it just fit better. While I was disappointed in having to buy that size, I reminded myself that no one will see the number, and I'll look better in something that fits. Hubby kindly washed it for me before we went on vacation. Oh, did I mention it's dry clean only? Yea, my 2x shirt is now a 1x shirt. It was a bit snug on vacation, but it looked fine. I put it on today, and it fit like it was supposed to! Hubby will be happy to know that he did not ruin my shirt at all!

This was an unexpected joy to start my morning!

Hmmm...what happens when Mr. washes it the next time?? ;) Good for you - non-scale victories are the best and most important.
