Losing inches!!!

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

OK... So on May 5 I decided to take my measurements for the first time. I was always anti the whole measurement thing... It just seemed like such a hassle.
I also always felt there was so much room for human error! I mean, if you move the measuring tape the smallest bit you get a different measurement!
But I did it anyway.
I said I would measure every month on the 5th.
Today is the 5th. I measured...

I am down a total of 3.5 inches!!!
Now... That may not seem like a lot... and I still have that whole "human error" thing in my head... but it was consistant.
I did not go up in ANY measurements.
Some stayed the same.
Some were down anywhere from 0.5-1.0 inches.

I am really happy I recorded them a month ago. I know I have lost a few pounds, but this somehow feels even better! Maybe because it's tangible. I actually feel it in my body, and the measurements support it.
So... for those of you who are like I was... Never wanting to measure... I say just do it. In a month you will be happy you did.

WOOHOO! That is seriously the best feeling ever!!! I might start taking waist and hip measurements as well. But one thing's for sure, I NEED to do what you're doing and make sure I only take measurements once a month. It's going to be so tough but your excitement shows me that it's well worth it.

I always worry that I'm measuring wrong. Did I pull the tape tight last time or just keep it relaxed? Did I measure the same area (my waist and hips are kind of lumpy you know) as I did the last time? I do need to measure again soon. Maybe I won't be so stressed about doing it right. I think it's because I really want to see a change and worry I might be "fooling" myself by measuring too tightly.

I like inches better than pounds because you can tell where the weight is coming from and it means your clothes fit better. It may also indicate muscle development which weighs the same but is more compact. Yeah for inches lost.

emoticon emoticon I just measured for the first time in a month! It is exciting to know the inches are gone - even if you don't FEEL like it! emoticon emoticon

Sometimes loosing those inches is better than loosing the pounds. CONGRATULATIONS! emoticon

Good job. I was wondering about measuring and I have two more weeks before I check on mine. Now I will feel it is worth it. Keep doing what you are doing.
