Guilt-Free "Milkshake"

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

As some of you may know, I have had to go dairy-free since Elliott was born, as I am breastfeeding and he is sensitive to cow dairy. I have been ultra-sad about no ice cream this summer, but just tweaked out a dairy-free, guilt free milkshake recipe! At 154 calories, you have to try it!

1C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 frozen banana
1 Tbsp or less unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 Tsp (ish) vanilla

If you wanted to go even lower calorie, think like 50 cals, take out the frozen banana and just do ice cubes. But the banana helps your freggie count, fiber, and adds a little more creaminess!

Real blog soon. I hope. Maybe. Elliott has starting rolling over, so life is a little busier!!

I love me some non-dairy sweet treats. Plus, I've been drinking almond and coconut milk for so long that I prefer them over cow's milk. Unfortunately, my downfall is cheese. My love affair with cheese is put on hold for now since I'm also trying to go dairy free...suspect the dairy is linked to my bouts of adult acne :(

Anyway, I hope you're having a wonderful Friday! Glad to hear little Elliott is hitting his milestones and rollin' now :)

    Yum! Sounds tasty!

I have become addicted to the whole frozen banana "ice cream" thing, where you freeze chunks and then blend 'em to get that ice cream consistency? I throw a little PB in there and oooh, so good! I bet cocoa powder would be tasty too!

strangely I haven't missed dairy. AND I'm learning weird things like people who don't drink dairy are less likely to have osteoporosis? crazy right??
