Beating back the Blue Funk!

So after some "woe is me" and some kinder words from many Spark friends the blue funk still had me entrenched. I even spent some energy trying to figure out a good excuse to not go to the gym...I really wanted to go to Burger King and get a sandwich instead of eating the healthy wrap I brought for lunch... BUT then I got a little bit of good news so I was able to mentally shake myself and say "NO!" to the blue funk! I ate my delicious wrap made with white beans, chicken and cilantro and really enjoyed it! Added bonus - No guilt! I confirmed my gym date with my daughter so there would be no excuse not to go. I did a combination of weights and cardio for an hour!! Added bonus - I felt great afterwards! I even went home (after making a 4-H presentation) and made a delicious and healthy soup for lunch today. I can't say it won't be back but for today I have beat back the blue funk!

    Good for you. I so know all those feelings. Being trapped in a funk that you can't seem to break, wanting NOTGOODSTUFF rather than wanting to do GOODSTUFF, having something good happen that gives you that little bit of something to help you push through the funk, and the good feeling of finally getting in a good workout.

    I think it helps us to understand that there may be funks in our future but that eventually we can work out of the funks. It's hard, when we are in a funk, to think that there is ever a way out. But there is...we just need to hang on and if possible, keep doing things we know will help us.
