Mental Clutter

I read an interesting article this morning on how clutter can affect weight loss or weight gain. I totally agree with that concept. When you get rid of the junk, the poison, and the things you really donít need, you are better able to focus on what really matters and move forward.

That isnít just the clutter in the room Öitís also the clutter in you.

We donít need the poison of toxic feelings,
We donít need to keep replaying bad memories over and over,
We donít need self destructive behavior, negative attitudes, and bad habits.
We need to get rid of all that.
We need to change our paradigm and
we need to organize our lives towards being closer to where we need to be.

We certainly donít need a bad dietÖ
we need to get rid of junk food, fad diet ideas, and quick fix fantasiesÖ
and make room for a healthy lifestyle that will be with us for the long haul.

We need to shift thru the old ways we used before, that donít work for us nowÖ
and organize our efforts to make progress.

If you fill yourself (and your surroundings) with things that are toxic, unnecessary (unnecessary worry, unnecessary guilt, fear of the unknown),
and unused (old ideas that don't fit us any more)Ö......
you wonít be able to focus,
you wonít be able to maintain a positive attitude,
and you wonít be able to move forward.

create your environment for success
identify your real priorities and organize your life to fit your needs

    I also agree clutter in my life held me back for a long time. Getting rid of "stuff"

    I love it when you put my favorite doll on your blog. It brings back fond memories of my childhood. As you know, you couldn't buy dolls back then already bound. I had to expend a lot of time and energy doing this on my own. As some of their arms were not all that flexible, like my own arms, sometimes shoulders had to be dislocated. And before you assume that I was in someway wacko or something, my dolls were extremely bad. You would be shocked if you knew some of the things they had done. This doll on your blog would make a nice gift for me. (Hint,Hint). I hope it comes with a gag. Only an idiot binds a doll and doesn't gag it as well. I can supply my own cluttered closet to throw it in.

    I agree..get rid of the toxic clutter and surround yourself with positive healthy people, food and attitudes. It is an environment change. You are right..old habits produce old results. Change is needed.

    Thanks for the blog. It brought to the fore front that I could get rid of some mental clutter. Some times it is easier said then done and I seem to be a slow learner as I set myself up again and again for it. Guess I better make a plan to prioritize what can go and what has to stay a bit longer.

    That is so true Sheryl! I find that when I start cluttering up my kitchen area I become less focused and fail to plan which of course leads to planning to fail. So this is a very important point! Thanks

    Does the clutter cause they fat or are they symptoms of the same disorder?

As a person who comes from a family of obese hoarders, I tend to think they are two sides of the same coin. My family members can no more clean up their houses than they can lose 100 pounds. Their mental illness and compulsions generate both issues.
